I liked the karma at first, but now that I noticed that I have one less from the last time I signed on, I don't like it so much! I wonder what I did to offend someone, and it hurts me. I don't want to stay on this board if it's going to hurt my feelings. Is there any way that we could just add karma and not subtract it? The concept is great, but I'll now wonder who doesn't like me.

If the reason for it is some stupid message board silliness then they're not worth the split second it takes to think about them. I got my first smites, three within the last 14 hours actually, and that's without posting much of anything here. I imagine I'll get a few more now for this. I guess the people who once had the guts to send unprovoked hate PMs at DD.com can now get their anger rocks off undetected. Woohoo, good for them. *tries very hard to give a damn but fails miserably*

I feel the same way. Someone decided to smite me the other day. The karma was used wrong on another board I used to go to. The posters would agree with you in the threads. They wouldn't flame. Instead they used karma. I had negative karma. I quit going there.

I think some people are worrying about this smite/exault thing too much. True, some people I'm sure are legitimately getting a "smite" but I think others are a joke. Example? Check out this thread: duranduranboard.proboards86.com/index.cgi?board=links&action=display&thread=1167873075Heck, I don't think a lot of people even "get it" really. I didn't know what the heck it was initially until I started hearing others talk about it. Just my $0.02. I'm surprised I even have any karma thus far. ;D

I had a couple of smites, but the person PM'd me & said she meant to exalt but hit the wrong button. No big deal, just another silly but fun aspect of this board.

I think I my Karma points have taken on a life of their own. I logged on at around 10:30 last night, and I had -55. I got caught up in an IM conversation, and when I refreshed at around 11 p.m., I was at -17.
That just isn't possible. Because I don't know Mark, and he has no reason to treat me preferentially (not that he would even if I did know him), I asked him what was up, and he didn't mess with them at all!
Then, I logged in this morning at -17, and now I'm at -21.
Needless to say, I'm way past the point of caring and well on my way to amused and anticipatory about what will happen next.
WHEEEEEE!

That was one of the things I thought might cause a problem but Mark wasn't sure if it was something you can remove or not. I don't know that we ever thought of it again before time got away and everyone was 'sort of' having fun with it.
If it can be removed and it does start causing a problem it might be a good option to get rid of it.
Of course that is if it can even be taken off.
I never even look at it myself. Do I even have Karma? ;D

'Karma' can be turned on and off. Maybe a "Karma, yes or no?" poll later down the line
