the way you say "fan-made videos" sounds a little belittling, randal, to the artistic capabilities of your fellow duranies. in my humble opinion, this is a very clever move and will get a lot of people psyched about doing a video. will they be used officially in the end? like Nycki says, maybe not. but as long as they keep their word, select the few and pay the prize, it's all good.
i know for sure there are people out there who WILL come up with some amazing stuff, and not just a pastiche of footage from other videos or the guys faces, but some creative, out there stuff. art school. experimental. ;D

I'm just wondering when Randalgraves became the spokesman for us all and why he so desperately wants this album to fail?

Randal has a point .The vast majority of hipster kids today don`t give a fcku about Duran Duran . They don`t know who they are and do not really care about it . That is also the same for every band from the 80s apart from perhaps Madonna and U2 , it has no relevance to them and those kids are a major part of the record and downloading buying public today as sad it is it`s the truth . And that is the reason why its not selling as much as we hope or wanted , if people believe that those kids will buy tons of DD albums just beacause we think the new reord is the best since "Seven And The Ragged Tiger" they`re plain stupid .

And that is the reason why its not selling as much as we hope or wanted . Right, it has nothing to do with it wanting to fail. Its more of accepting the fact it probably will not do well commercially and to just deal with it. Hey, I'd be happy if it sold a million copies, but that isn't going to happen. I think even the band know that as well. Hence, the self-release route they are now taking. agreed- I love the album and would like to see it top of the sales charts- but in reality I'm pretty sure that won't happen. There are plenty of other bands out there who make and release music that doesn't trouble the music charts. I'm going to enjoy listening to this album- it's the best thing they've done in 20 years- and it will do whatever it does in terms of the rest

professional or amateur video-makers or designers who happen to be fans. Still makes them fan-made videos, regardless of their professional or amateur video-maker status. Why get all flowery and fancy with the wording? To give you something else to whine about presumably....

i guess Randal have got a point, but who cares about records sales today?
Releasing a record (physical or not) is just promo for the upcoming tour, where the real money is, the money that perhaps will keep duran duran going for another decade ,-)
