...word. And they would've said "quit", not "unworkable gulf". ....people need to remember that THAT news came from the band, not Andy. From the bands representatives ... LoL ~ "Wolf" This is what I mean.....fans who play with words to rationalize/play chess with reality. Yeah - from the bands representatives (which means - from the band.....they're paid BY THE BAND to make statements on their behalf). The band likely had to help draft/approve a message of that magnatude (Andy's "departure"), and they certainly didn't ever retract that PR release - except by giving contridictory statements back and forth in interviews. If Andy had quit - he'd have said so. Andy hasn't ever even come out and slammed the band at all. He's had some blogs that are quite kind to his memories with Duran and the only thing he's really said is that the record labels want bands to sell out to kids rather than focus on the music. If he'd handled the situation badly, I'd be the first to say so - but he hasn't. He's been very professional about it. And the comment of: "If they release another single (Skin Divers) RCM isnt a flop yet. ..." I PROMISE - if skin divers gets a REAL release (not just a "here....it's on Itunes and you can download it if you find it" release) AND becomes a hit - I'll be the first to come on the board and in all caps type, "I'm an idiot......RCM is a huge hit!" Lol......it ain't gonna happen tho (but if it does - I will!). The album is dead. Sony did their initial promotion, there was zero interest in every effort, and Sony did what any company with shareholders does - it cut it's losses rather than pour more bucks into an album that no one has an interest in (outside of a small, and dwendeling, fan base). Liberty sold more albums and it was dead as dead can be. RCM (as of today, May 8th, 2008) is a flop. Being a flop has nothing to do with whether it's a good album or not - but, in this case.......it ain't good "as is". Maybe if they gave it more of the live treatment with more real instruments (and some better lyrics), maybe I'd like it more. Someone pointed out that parts of the songs are pretty good and then bad choruses, and this and that, kinda ruin some songs. I re-listened with that in mind one day and it was a good observation. RCM in particular has some parts I really like a lot, but the chorus (partially because the lyrics don't work) ruins the song, for me anyway. If everything was as good as (but not the same as) Falling Down and BFOH, then I'd probably like it. How about some guitar on the next one???

Its not a flop to me or real die hard duran duran fans.
And it would be nice to see Skin Divers get a real release.
And the guys havent said anything bad about Andy ... although if you have evidence ... I would like to see it. ...
And there is guitar on RCM ... just not Andy's.

I agree with the Get Over It and Move On camp. Life's too short to dwell on the past. Be prepared for being flamed and called a "dictator"!! I'll share part of Duranland with you . . . ;D ;D ;D ;D

I'm a diehard fan, RCM is a flop. It's not good musically. The band could have done much better.

RCM is a great album ... to me. LoL ... And why do I feel like I am always defending the band that this message board is for? haha ... It also seems I encounter a lot of pro-Andy here and Anti-DD. ... Hmmm ... Oh well! LoL

RCM is a fantastic album with several great songs. John seems to be the most angry with Andy. and I do believe Andy left and it's not the band's fault but Andy's fault.

Yep, and there it is plain as day. According to him that is. Oh yes, there is more. In The Times newspaper today on page 4 they pring the following apology to Andy Taylor. An interview with Duran Duran ("The band plays on", Magazine, November 3, 2007), referring to Andy Taylor's departure from the band, said that he failed to turn up for a recording session in New York and had "quit" the band. Andy Taylor did not walk out on the band - the Duran Duran partnership was dissolved by the other members. Andy Taylor's departure from the band is the subject of continuing legal proceedings, but we wish to make clear that he did not quit or walk out but was unable to get a US working visa to attend the New York recording session due to administrative failures by the band's management. We apologise and are happy to correct the record.

Its not a flop to me or real die hard duran duran fans. And it would be nice to see Skin Divers get a real release. And the guys havent said anything bad about Andy ... although if you have evidence ... I would like to see it. ... And there is guitar on RCM ... just not Andy's. ~ "Wolf" You make these absolute statements that are kinda dumb. So the album isn't a flop to "real" die hard fans? You should ask the band if they're happy with the sales. It's 8 months later and Sony has released one single from it. Duran are playing in small venues again. But it's not a flop. I guess if Pop Trash sold a massive 40,000 run, then RCM is HUGE. What's so difficult about just calling it what it is? Why do you consider calling it a flop being "anti" Duran? They could have made the most critically acclaimed album of the year and it still be a flop. "The guys haven't said anything bad about Andy". You're factually incorrect. You apparently missed out on some streaming interviews back around the release of RCM (you must've been busy trying to catch the Falling Down video the time it aired before it was banned). Almost every one of your posts contains factually wrong statements. Yesterday you were trying to say that the statement released by the band on their own website regarding Andy no longer being in Duran wasn't from Duran, but rather from their representatives......as if that means it's not a statement approved by the band. A few days ago you were trying to "correct" Charley in another thread by comparing the process of getting a theme song in Bond movie to AVTAK - 23 years ago and it took 4 or 5 posts for you to "get it". I'm not sure you ever did get it....it seemed over your head. You kept going back to your irrelivant point and couldn't seem to get out of the loop. Sure - "there's guitar" on RCM.......buried in a wash of synths and bad machine generated sounds/beats. Nick would agree with you.....according to him, Duran don't need a guitarist. I seem to remember in the 90s that he said they didn't need a drummer (kinda true on RCM.....can barely hear Roger on a number of songs). In the late 90s they didn't need a bass player. If you want to play fast and loose with reality - that's cool but it doesn't change anything.
