I don't have just one favorite. I like many different singers... it just depends on my mood: Kate Bush, Chaka Khan, Aretha, Diana Ross, Teena Marie are some of my favorites. Plus some other names that probably aren't familiar to most here, like Martha Wash and Joi Cardwell. And I think Alicia Keys is very talented - I like her a lot.

This will sound really sexist but I'm not really! I don't care for female singers. I like alot of the classic singers mentioned (Billie Holliday) as well as moderns like Gwen, Pink, but I prefer to hear a male voice sing rock or pop. It is more correct for me to say I admire the modern singers I mentioned, appreciate their vocal talents (Sarah McLachlan's Christmas songs nearly made me cry)and do listen to them, but 8 out of 10 times I'll put on a male singer. I just feel the lyrics more when they are sung by a male. I 'm not a big fan of love songs, but I really can't stand a syrupy sweet love song sung by a woman.

Currently, I am enjoying the sounds of Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland. Am I the only country music listener here? Canadian Mike where are you?
