I enjoyed the closing ceremonies, the opening ones were more impressive though. Did like the women in the bell-dresses that lit up, though! That was pretty cool. And the montage of days projected around the top of the stadium before they extinguished the torch.
They did announce the games closed and ask the 'youth of the world' to come to London, but the IOC president did it in French, and they just had the translator repeat it in English, rather quickly so if you blinked you missed it. I also thought they ended the ceremony kind of abruptyl, usually they play music and have everyone dance for a while, but this time they just ended it and said "Thanks for coming!" and then shut all the music down while the staium emptied, Seemed kinda anti-climactic...
I enjoyed these games, seems they were dominated by a few athletes though, and things were a bit tense due to the political stuff. At least everyone can relax for the next games, they're in Canada and Great Britain! On to Vancouver...

The Closing Ceremonies weren't as good as the Opening imho. But I'm always sad when Olympics is over, so that may have something to do with it . I had to flip the channel when those jingling bell costumes were on though. They sounded to me like a swarm of crickets. The London presentation seemed to be a little short. I seem to remember Beijing's was pretty long, and they had a video on the huge screen with a lot of excitement. I don't know, maybe I just wasn't in a good mood last night .

If you check the National Geographic channel they have documentaries on how the Bird's Nest and Water Cube were built. The Water Cube is especially amazing.
