Why are one of the parents of a main character always DEAD?!?! I just watched the new Disney movie on the Disney Channel called "Jump In" (with my kids, of course), and...wouldn't you know it...the mother is DEAD!

I'm sensing a pattern here... it's just depressing. What's with the doom and gloom?!?!

I know, I've often wondered about this.
What kind of message is Disney trying to express?

That was discussed on a radio station here a few years back (maybe when Finding Nemo was released) I had never thought about it til then but it's true. Maybe Walt had a horrible mother---just a thought.

Not back when Disney first started making movies. Most Disney movies are pretty hard core in that respect. My son is obsessed with Cars. Luckily, I loved that movie too. Ah yes, it's a Pixar movie distributed by Disney. No wonder it's less sad.
