you guys won't believe i am asking for this, but here goes...
i know back in the day, there were some duran action figures/dolls.
i have searched literally for years. online, ebay, everywhere. i cannot find them to save my life. not even so much as a photo.
does anybody have any idea where i could get these?
i have never even seen them, so if anybody even has a pic of them they would like to share, it would be greatly appreciated.
thank you in advance.

There was talk many years ago about a McFarlane Toys plan to create DD action figures based off of the Wild Boys video, but I don't think it ever went any further than just talk. If they did exist I probably would have already snatched them up in a heartbeat! But these days it's almost easier to just find a doll/figure that kinda already looks like one of the guys and customizing it.

thank you all for the replies.
also, thank you spacebird for the pep talk. ;D
i know more recent plans for dolls have been scrapped, but i would have sworn there were some duran dolls in the 80s.
ok, so how would i go about searching for a lebon lookalike doll? and for that matter, how would i ever customise such a thing?

ok, so how would i go about searching for a lebon lookalike doll? and for that matter, how would i ever customise such a thing? I've already made a few and see potential in a couple other dolls. My best recommendation if you do want to make your own, is to start with either a Tonner doll (the "Simon Chase" doll doesn't even need a face repaint) or nearly any Ken doll by Mattel. Either of these can be purchased online or, at least for the Ken dolls, at Toys 'R Us or any other store that sells Barbies. Ebay has tons of cheap options as well. Do a little digging and find one that might inspire you. Be creative. For example, this is the new "Harley Davidson" Ken doll: It already looks a lot like Simon from, say, Sing Blue Silver. - Just rough up the hair a bit. He's kind of expensive if you buy him brand new, but this is where ebay comes in handy. - I've found look-alikes for Nick, Simon, Roger, and John this way. (Also, if you're handy with a sewing machine, making a Duran outfit would be pretty easy. Personally, I can't sew worth crap, so I've just pieced together parts of other Ken clothes). I know you weren't looking to do all the work yourself, but as the market hasn't bothered to make DD dolls for us yet (if ever), this is probably the best option at the moment. I hope this was at least somewhat helpful! eta: Here's the Tonner "Simon Chase" doll I mentioned before:That is the absolute closest I ever seen a doll look like Simon from Arcadia. Seriously no need to even change the face!

that is a great idea!!! i might have to start watching out at yard sales a bit more now.
i wonder if fabric shops sell patterns for barbie sized dolls. luckily for me, my wife has a degree in fashion and can pattern draft. so doing something custom would be an option.
and that leads to the next question. if you were the one calling the shots, what period/costumes would you have the dolls wearing?
i think late 1981 military would be pretty cool. or maybe rio video with the nice coloured suits.
thanks droid for the great idea. i for one would love to see some pics of your creations!!!!
derek...

For the ones I've made so far, I didn't have a specific era in mind. It was more like I'd happen upon a doll, and it would remind me of a specific look, and I'd go from there. It would be really cool to make all of the band members from the same era, and have it be a full set, but I haven't the time to do that these days. Here's what I have so far, and it all started with a Disney 'Prince Charming' doll that was part of my own toy collection as a kid... From left to right: Pop Trash Nick (notice the hands "waving" above the keyboard), Arcadia Simon (outfit came with original doll - I figured it was close enough ), SBS Roger, and a grungy 1995/solo John. (Formerly: DJ Blaine, Tango Ken, Cinderella's Prince Charming, and a Doctor Ken.) All of these dolls were first attempts and were done many year ago. I like to think that if and when I attempt another one, I'd do a better job.
