LOL! True! Not from me, but yeah. I am really happy with the music I have heard so far. *fingers crossed*

Please tell me we aren't really having a serious discussion concerning Adam Lambert. Funny how some people would say the same about Duran Duran... Anyway, I'm not talking about the ARTIST, I'm talking about the reaction to the cover art on his album. One poster made the point that all this negative talk was in fact a positive and would help album sales because we are, after all, talking about the album. My response was to point out that lots of people talked about the cover of Lambert's album and how much they hated it, and asking if anyone here thought THAT talk resulted in increased album sales. Judging by the answers to my post, I'm guessing the answer is "no." So, that proves my theory that just because people are talking about the album cover, that doesn't translate into more sales for Duran Duran. Esp. if most of the talk is negative.

It is a minority that's complaining. They're just making multiple posts on multiple sites to make it appear that there's more. And I said it's a minority that dislike the album art. I'll also say that it's a minority that loves it. The majority are indifferent. Wow, we agree on something. I'm not thrilled by the cover, don't hate it either. I'm just glad they're making music, hopefully (likely) good music.

I'm pretty sure the handwriting is Cluney Reids - she writes on pretty much all of her work (that I have seen), and that's her handwriting - it's part of her style, and a good reason for why her work is so recognizable. That seems about right, although her style is so diverse I can't say I'd instantly recognize it yet. Here's a sampling of her work. www.saatchi-gallery.co.uk/artists/clunie_reid.htmAnd art it is, for sure. It definitely still needs to grow on me. Also, the references to Rio so far elude me, except the large D is reminiscent of the D that wrapped around the Rio cover. Why this western slant though? I thought for a moment perhaps they used a font called Rio Grande but that turns out to look different. A more accessible and recognizable take on Rio was possible. I instantly liked the artwork for Mark Ronson's Record Collection but perhaps they felt that would have been too much like a parody or shameless self-referencing?

This cover is the only thing I dislike about the album.
I'm hoping one of the deluxe packages comes with a card slipcase with a diff pic on it, like Essential Duran Duran Night Versions did.
If not, I'll simply whip up something I consider better. They take so many group pics that look good, nothing too difficult to generate with cd sleeve software.
