Ok...I'm probably one of the very few who's never used iTunes to download music. It's either been hardcopy cds, or 320 kbps MP3s.
Based on iTunes downloads alone, and airplay, can DD actually chart with AYNIN?
I'm still deciding on whether I should download iTunes software. I don't really want to turn to pirated rips before the cd comes out (which I will buy next February)...but it's inevitable that these songs will be available for download for free as soon as they go on iTunes.

Downloads from itunes go towards chart placings, I use iTunes but dont download from there.
I also agree with you that the album will more than likely appear online to download for FREE on the day of release, that's the way of the world, just up to the individula if they want to pay for it or get it for free from another soucre.

downloads are what helps most any song chart these days. Does it equal album sales? hell no. Look at Katy Perry and Rihanna.......HUGE downloads for singles, but less than explosive album sales. Im sure if Duran can get at least 10,000 downloads of AYNIN single it will chart somewhere on the hot 100.....it may not be in the top 10, but i'm sure it will chart

Lil Wayne's last album came out via download a couple of weeks ahead of physical release and charted quite highly.

Hello I have a small suggestion just download it from i tunes from the duranduran.com website and from any digital download website also buy the hardcopy cd. It is not a big deal to world hunger if one buys 4 instead of 1 copy.. after all it is the new duran album that we have long waited for three years !! c a

CJ - I am pretty sure that you can convert an MP4 file (thats what the iTunes files are) to an MP3 using some sort of a converter program that can be found somewhere on the web - search on yahoo, they might be hard to find (not sure), but I do know they are out there from previous experience. I know that Apple has continued to fight hard against those programs being available (my husband works with Apple, both in regard to their iPods, iPads, iPhones, etc. as well as their computers), but the rest of the industry pushes back, so it's a constant tug-of-war. It's a matter of finding the converter program online...and if you or your friend do find it and use it, make sure that you keep a copy of the original file, just in case - I'm sure that goes without saying though.

You can actually convert a file to MP3 right on iTunes. On the top nav, under Advanced, choose "Create MP3 version".
