This move has either been done because: a) The leaked track is out there for free, so the sooner another option (to buy) is available the better. b) DD has secured a nice slot on a primetime British TV show this weekend (now that the SA tour has been cancelled), and it makes sense for the product to be available to buy to coincide with this. or c) Radio 2 in the UK won't play it unless it's commercially available. source: www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/music/playlist/

Why Wednesday? Obviously, for two reasons..
1. Duran Duran are continuing there homage to The Beatles, adjusting the Lennon title "All you need is love" to "-now" as this wednesday marks the thirtieth anniversary since the icon was brutally murdered outside his NY-home.
2. It is also a 54th birthday present to Warren Cuccurullo (without whom...)
But hey...

Bit odd as I've just done a search for ALL YOU NEED IS NOW and there's no sign of it on the UK i-tunes store, you would think that it would have some presence, usually items are visible but are tagged with their download release date. It really will only be fans of the band who will know it will be available. The only promo we've had here was the One Show a couple of weeks ago so it's hardly a high profile return!

Probably because they don't have the backing of a major record label. You know, pluggers who are paid to get the records to radio etc. This is new territory for Duran. It'll be the first time in years they've launched a record actually worth buying so it will have to sell on its own merits rather than hype.

I hope you are right about the British TV show, they could do with some exposure for this track.
