So it appears that critics are reviewing the album as the nine tracks and dismissing the extra four tracks that will appear next year, not sure if that's right as they should review the album as a whole. This IS the whole album, the 9 tracks ARE the whole album, the extra tracks next year are just that, bonus tracks. Exactly.

I get a condescending and dismissive tone from the review. He seems to only be crediting Duran with kitch-factor. Like a movie that's so bad it's funny, they're saying this is so retro and fluffy and kitchy, it's fun.
It's such a shame people really can't be able to see past all that.

Rolling Stones are blind! They see liking DD as the anti establishment--whatever..I think this album is almost good as Rio--Rio is first in my book with a close second of AYNIN!!!

This IS the whole album, the 9 tracks ARE the whole album, the extra tracks next year are just that, bonus tracks. Exactly. *A 12-track physical package will be available for purchase on CD and vinyl with special deluxe options in February 2011 I take it from that the CD will have 12 tracks and there will also be ''Special Deluxe options' which I would say would be bonus / videos etc I'm not saying your wrong, but that's the impression I was given and I don't think I'm alone in that view. It's a little confusing, perhaps the band could have made it clearer, there also seems to be rather a lot of confusion over the ''Mediterranea'' EP as to where its being released and what tracks are on the EP.. Are we to assume that ''Mediterranea' won't be on the CD and only available in Europe via iTunes legally? Also the three added tracks titles seem to be common knowledge but then I read that a fourth untitled track was going to be added, though that could be a ''bonus' track !

Condescension and dismissiveness are the foundation of Rolling Stone's musical elitism...always have been, at least in my experience. Wait, I forgot arrogance. Come to think of it, those are usually hallmarks of Randal's posts as well! Hmm...

Extended Physical Release On CD & Vinyl With Extra Tracks To Be Released February 2011This is where the confusion for me at least (perhaps its just me lays with the wording of this statement ''Extended Physical Release'' I read as THE ALBUM HAS MORE TRACKS not that they are bonus tracks ie not part of the album... Also Digital LP tracklisting in full that makes me think the 9 tracks are ONLY on the download This makes me think the album will have 12 tracks complete NOT bounus...but complete A 12-track physical package will be available for purchase on CD If the 9 tracks are indeed the whole full album then fine, the best DD albums all have 9 tracks IMO Duran Duran RIO SATRT AYNIN All 9 tracks and my top 4 Duran Duran albums...

Good word of mouth becomes more valuable by the day, while the musings of dying old media increasingly lose their ability to influence. The increasing silo-ization and personalization (blogs, playlists, tweets) of yer media-munching capabilities means that consensus (where it even exists in the first place!) is a rare bird these days. Old media (in particular) thrives on consensus and is having a bit of a rough go in our newly fragmented world. RS means SOMETHING, but not as much as they'd like. 5 star reviews of Mick Jagger solo albums...Elton John snoozefests...and shit U2 records didn't influence the public at all. Favors for Wenner's friends. What a creepy cabal. A nice review on Pitchfork wouldn't hurt, mind.

And what's going to happen in February to the iTunes version of the album, do you suppose? Are they going to add the 3 extra physical CD tracks, or have the "12 track CD version" be a separate album download, or will iTunes forever have a 9-track version of the album as the only option?

I dont mate, I' m confused...read my post above LOL I found this on ''Duranasty'' ''Nick assures that the physical release will have at least a couple more tracks. ''
