PE would have been my initial guess for the question as well, but looking at that still it isn't actually black and white. It's just really, really washed out color. It's a lighting trick, there's too much of a pink undertone for it to be true b&w. eta: Also, his hair is obviously brown there. If it were b&w, it would appear black.

Which is what makes it such a tricky trivia question. In fact, my first thought was actually the Night Boat video. Night Boat has a similar washed-out feel to it, but I think most of the band members are a little too tan in it to look b&w.

Fair enough, and I agree it does look very washed out, but it's VERY washed out to the point it's black and white. To me. Doesn't help that Simon looks really pale in that scene either. All the more easy to add the fire effect I guess!

I think the first video with B&W was Rio, when a military John run and fall in the sand...the scene of Simon in Planet Earth is not total B&W.
