hello friends,
i was wondering if any of you collectors here have any records from bolivia?
i actually didn't have any but found a copy of CARELESS MEMORIES and i didn't know that it even existed before it saw it.
i only had a 7s of that song from AUS, IRELAND, PHILIPPINES, PORTUGAL and the UK.
another oddball country i'd be eager to get records from is the barbados. i know for sure NEW MOON ON MONDAY was released as a single there and their might be more!
what other interesting and far flung countries do you own vinyl from??

The problem with these "far flung countries" is that when you do get someone from there or relatively near there, they want to a$$ rape you on the price of the item (regardless of whether it's a promo or not). If it's not the price of the item, they then give some sob story about why the shipping price is so high. Anyways...off my soap box. I don't have any DD stuff from a country that would fit that description (yet), but I do have a few Thompson Twins items from South Africa.

i love the thompson twins!! which era? early, (not so into it) middle (adore it!) or later (so-so)
yes, it cost 62 dollars plus shipping. (50 and 12) and i never like paying that much for sevens, but i never even knew it existed and it was buy it now, which is rare, so i had to grab it before one of you did!
as you point out, most times the south american records (far flung!) are crazy prices. which i always found shocking as most of those places are far sub first world countries. you wouldn't think that a person in bolivia would have 50 bucks for a record, would you? but i guess that's why they sell them on ebay to people like us! i am at the point where i need such a small number of items from those places i almost have to just bite the bullet once in a while and pay the price!
one shocker country to me was zimbabwe. when i found out they put records out there i was shocked. that would be like saying there was vinyl in ethiopia...you just wouldn't think such an impoverished nation would have the need, but they did and almost every dd single came out there. the philippines too...guatemala, colombia, barbados and more.
south africa has good duran stuff too! the rarest things i can think of are the CARELESS MEMORIES single with a custom cover like no other country and the first album that comes with a poster inside it. i never knew it existed until the copy on won on the bay arrived. the seller had no idea it was even in there, but it was a four fold in mint tucked inside! a nice poster too!!

Very interesting! figital, would you be able to post an image of the South African poster and/or Careless Memories single? What time period is the poster image from?

i love the thompson twins!! which era? early, (not so into it) middle (adore it!) or later (so-so) These were 7" singles from the HTFD era as well as the HTFD album. I'd gone to the Electrafixion concert when they came to town and bought 3 of the "Baseball Bill" 7"s. I can't remember how this came about (probably in a music forum), but I met this guy from South Africa who loved Echo & the Bunnymen and I did a trade with him. I think I would consider any pressing from South Africa up there with hard to get items. I'm always on the look out for more TT stuff from South Africa, but it's a tough find!

I swear I don't know why I torture myself in here. hahahaha. yes, i feel that way myself sometimes too. so much cool stuff to find that we know about. and then you see two sweet-ass items like these you've never seen or heard of and that just sets you off... i don't own the CM single and i expect that if one shows up on the bay it's going to sell for a sick and twisted amount of cash. and that poster was just a fluke. it was in the sleeve when i got the record and the seller had no idea it was in there and he was the original owner of the album! LOL. if that was mentioned in the listing, i would have never got it, someone with well deeper pockets than me would have swooped in!!

Nice topic and a rather late reaction from me I think the only two items from my collection that qualify to be from "far flung" countries are the Uruguay 7" of A View To A Kill and the South African promo 7" of Violence of Summer on clear vinyl. I do have some items from Brazil and Mexico but those are not really far flung countries, are they? Maybe the promo 7"s of Femme Fatale and Breath After Breath from the Phillipines also qualify but they are fairly common and turn up on Ebay quite often. O, and maybe my copy of Big Thing (LP) form India. But that's it.
