I was able to go to the show from Tx but in the words of The Simpsons Comic Book Guy...

I for one was never told about the flying food schitck. There were a total of 4 cakes thrown, numerous water bottles, an bucket of iced water, & 4 bottles of champagne. The inflatable rafts were cool cuz at least fans could get on them & not have to worry about somebody groping them while they crowd surfed.
I was 1 who made it to the front and the ONLY info that was posted on the rail was a piece of paper that stated that right before the show starts, we would have to move back for the Aoki fans' FB contest winners. Then 1 of the 3 security guards came down the line to tell us that same thing in addition to that they would be a break in between sets and that they would all leave right before DD took the stage. So a 1/2 dozen of us locked arms so that we could easily get back to the rail once the contest winners left...or so we thought. The security guards came & went & NOTHING was done. I wanted to video record the mixed song but I couldn't cuz I was in the process of pushing my way back up to the rail along with my other buds!
THEN to top it all off, here come the media/photographers! As some of you know, they are suppossed to be there for only the 1st 3 songs. Well they pretty much stayed for the whole set. UGH!!! GGGRRRRRRRR!
1 even turns to me & says "Oh I'll be done in 2 minutes". Nope he wasn't!
A friend of mine wrote to DDM VIP last week to ask about the event and this is what they told her:

Hi,
I think it will be a fun event - something a little different.
Anyway, here is the schedule. We have received no word about anything happening at 4pm:
Doors: 7pm (I am not aware of anyone that will be allowed into the venue before 7pm)
Event ends at 11pm but Duran will play 4-5 songs and may end an hour earlier than the event ends. Steve Aoki will be ending the eve.
Lots of interesting things in store throughout the evening.
There is no early entry or special access but from past experience the Aoki crowd isn't prone to line up early outside of a venue.
Hope that helps.
Ummm...sorry but it didn't!

If they had prior info about his fans not lining up early, then they should have had the info about the food throwing as well. I know that some of us like to dress nicely for the shows(myself included) but they should have told us to bring ponchos or haz mat suits instead!
My MAIN complaint was with people not keeping their word! That f***ing chaps my hid!!!!
If the contest winners were to be removed, then DO IT! Security outside should have made mention of it too. Hey I dug the music but it was waaaaay to packed to for me to enjoy it.
Every time something was about to be thrown into the crowd, I swear I saw a wave of immediate response from all of the surrounding Duranies around me with frowns, rolling eyes, and total disappointment. Some of us tried to make the most of it but seriously, with the risk of slipping from the cake & liquids, it made for a frustrating occasion. My buds & I were soooo yucky that we went back to the hotel to freshen up again before we went out on the town again. UGH!
After this show, to me Steve Aoki is the Gallagher of the DJ community!

The upsides were of course DD related- seeing Roger, John, Atlanta, & Dom looking down from the rafters. John & Nick seeing my birthday signs to them. And seeing DD play of course!
From what I've heard, looks like Simon was in a bad mood even as they arrived at the venue. So who knows why he was!
At the end of the day, every1 is going to have different experiences! Congrats to those who had a fab time &/or made the most of the situation. For me, it was disappointing but I couldn't have survived w/out the help of my fellow sistah Duranies!
