Here's something that we ALL must really have for our collection....I know we just can't do without yet ANOTHER greatest hits / retread / hodgepodge collection of Duran Duran music! This is an official EMI (on the emigold label) release. See here: www.ebay.com/itm/DURAN-DURAN-SIGHT-AND-SOUND-CD-DVD-NEW-MINT-CONDITION-/290738013896?pt=UK_CDsDVDs_CDs_CDs_GL&hash=item43b15606c8and it's also listed on HMV UK: hmv.com/hmvweb/displayProductDetails.do?ctx=280;0;-1;-1;-1&sku=803983This set is out on the 6th / 13th of August, 2012 (ebay seller and HMV give confilcting release dates). Apparently it's a CD / DVD release. This is the tracklisting: 01. Girls on Film 02. Planet Earth 03. Fame 04. Careless Memories (Single Version) 05. Is There Something I Should Know 06. Hold Back The Rain 07. Save A Prayer (Single Version) 08. My Own Way (Single Version) 09. Rio 10. New Religion 11. The Chauffeur 12. Hungry Like the Wolf 13. Lonely In Your Nightmare 14. Make Me Smile (Come Up And See Me) (Live) 15. New Moon On Monday Disc 2 (which I'm going to assume is the DVD): 01. Planet Earth (2003 - Remaster) 02. Girls On Film [Long Uncensored Version (2003 - Remaster)] 03. Hungry Like The Wolf (2003 - Remaster) 04. Save A Prayer (2003 - Remaster) 05. Rio (2003 - Remaster) 06. Is There Something I Should Know (2003 - Remaster) 07. Union Of The Snake (2003 - Remaster) 08. The Reflex (2003 - Remaster) 09. Wild Boys [7" Final Edit (2003 - Remaster)] 10. I can understand the label putting out another best of cd. But i just don't get the tracklisting! It's 8 tracks of Rio and filled with a few other tracks (audio cd).
As a collector i don't mind buying it, but the tracklisting just fascinates me... I could do a better tracklist, i dare to say.
Any thoughts?
Best regards, Peter

Didn't BMG get the publishing rights to the post 86 stuff a little while back? If so it means it will be cheaper for EMI to do only 81-85 compilations like this one. This budget release does seem pointless though given you can get the Greatest CD+DVD combo for around the same price.

That IS weird. Is this another UK only thing? I have not gotten some of the things already out. I am hoping to get the money to pick them up for my collection sooner or later. Not sure what to think about this one. Strange choices.

Very interesting.. I would rather have them make a disc of demos and rarities and things we don't already have? Why are they (EMI) so far behind all the other musicians who have released demo cd's and such?

i have posed exactly that question on the ask katy roundtable. my guess is EMI have exhumed the vaults for now and if the band did something mildly big again would think about it.
