So we now know that the "secret gig" in Monterey involves Mazda which also happens to be a big sponsor of Fashion Rocks. Too bad Mazda's YouTube channel will only have highlights of the band's performance.

By Andrew Newton
The Miata has been around for a quarter century with Mazda selling over 930,000 examples (making it the all-time best-selling two-seat roadster), and giving affordable thrills and a tunable platform to countless enthusiasts around the world.
Next week, Mazda will be unveiling the all-new fourth generation of its cherished roadster at an event in Monterey, California. This car has been highly anticipated for quite some time now, especially since we got a sneak peek at the chassis at the New York Auto Show back in April. With so much attention and excitement focused on this car and this high-profile event, how is Mazda going to give it that little something extra? By hiring music superstars from 30 years ago, of course.
Duran Duran and a sports car reveal don’t make for the most obvious pairing, but Mazda’s reasoning makes at least a little bit of sense. Unlike a lot of washed-up ’80s artists, Duran Duran is actually still fairly active and going strong with an upcoming 14th album.
According to Russell Wager, Mazda’s Vice President of Marketing, “Duran Duran and the MX-5 Miata both made their world debuts in the 1980s … In 25 years, both the car and the band have evolved while staying true to their roots. It is this combination of authenticity and endurance that makes the pairing of the MX-5 and Duran Duran so appropriate for this reveal.”
The Mazda Miata reveal and the performance will be broadcast on Mazda’s Youtube channel on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at 6 p.m. California time and, unfortunately, it doesn’t look like they’re taking requests.
