Loved watching this...great trip down memory lane when these 5 guys ruled the world.
Nick made a great point - if Duran made a new album immediately after SATRT - the album would not have worked and they would have broken up entirely very likely.
Doing the Arcadia and The Power Station projects was desperately needed.
Thanks for posting Tin.

And still they're doomed. No matter what they say or do. Whatever album they come up with, whatever they will accomplish, they will forever be a "pussy magnet band". Which serves them with very great injustice. While other bands such as U2 can do whatever they want, it's gonna be a hit anyway. I'm getting sick and tired of this shit.

U2 has had severely declining records sales over the past few decades. Nothing has even come close to their pinnacle of Joshua Tree. U2 has actually sucked since then and I'm not fond of their latest creation nor the monster they created surrounding it. They sold out, plain and simple; from Paul McGuinness leaving them with Live Nation, to this stunt with Apple. Yes, people will always love U2 and stand by them...especially their fan base. But they sold out. They are not the same group they once were. However to true music fans, success isn't measured by money or accolades. Some of the best music in the world didn't earn Grammys or other music awards. Music is good because of the people and feelings that created it. To be honest, I do feel that Duran Duran is above U2 only because they are not megalomaniacs and are not stupid (or desperate) enough to pull a PR stunt like U2. Duran Duran do what they want, not looking to please the world. They are known as an 80s New Romantic/MTV video band and always will be; that's a cross they've had to bear for their entire careers. They are still making music, still doing side projects, still interested in their own hobbies and families. They are still individuals outside of the band. However I'm damn proud that they are still Duran Duran and haven't sold out like U2 did. No, they aren't on every single magazine cover or constantly mentioned everywhere you turn. THANK GOD! But countless artists since the 80s have named DD as a musical influence. DD don't have a "sound" they've stuck by for 30+ years. I like the fact they've had the balls to try new things, new sounds, new takes on things. I already stated that I really like Big Thing. I also like Medazzaland, RCM, Pop Trash, Astronaut and Liberty as much as I like Duran Duran, Rio, 7ATRT, Notorious, The Wedding Album and AYNIN. Each album has they're ups and downs but they all show growth and the desire to try something different. No, they aren't the same group they were in the 80s, so why should they sound the same? They were in their late teens back then so why should they act the same? U2 still sounds the same. Bono is still stuck in the butts of politicians (and for the record, I LOVED xxxxxx Osbourne's tweets back in September). Bono is not God nor is he a god. He's the front man for a music group as well as a megalomaniac. I am a proud to be a fan of Duran Duran and the simple fact that Duran's fan base has differing opinions about album tracks, demos, albums in general as well as respecting other fans' opinons. That shows that we are more mature about DD. U2's main fan base will argue and trash you if you don't like something U2 did. I've been through that in-person and on Facebook...and all that shows is immaturity. Sorry. Off my soapbox.
