What is the point with a cover album sounding like the original?

Listening to it on Spotify, some excellent covers on there: - American Science - Do You Believe In Shame? - Friends Of Mine - The Chauffeur
Altough I really dislike Itunes I will buy it for the good cause. Will definately be buying the cd and LP too when it comes out.

I came across this album a few days ago and decided to give it another chance. I don't know why I didn't take the time to listen to it by the time of its release (it kind of went under the radar) but it's pretty nice.
Some of these covers could well be featured on something like a Netflix drama series.

At my old workplace they had a playlist of lounge music that would update every few months by a third party and Moby's Rio made the rotation for a while (this was like 2019 too.. well after the song was released). Was strange hearing it regularly at work. I've also heard the Planet Earth cover in the wild at a Cafe around the time the album was released.
