Awesome, thanks for those links, I love reading about how Duran made their albums. Would much rather read music-related interviews and articles than any other sort of topic, that's for sure

Awesome, thanks for those links, I love reading about how Duran made their albums. Would much rather read music-related interviews and articles than any other sort of topic, that's for sure 100% agreed. Even the band themselves used to complain when all interviewers ever wanted to talk about was screaming girls & videos. "Don't you want to ask us about our songs?" These are both great links, but especially Duranasty's - No one else on the net puts the time, thought, & effort into articles like he does! Each one of his features showcases the best melding of graphics, images, & in-depth research out there! EDIT: Just got to the end of the Duranasty article, and my ear feels 100% vindicated - I always KNEW deep down that Simon sings " destroy MY MTV" instead of " destroyed BY MTV", but at times doubted myself and thought maybe Simon actually did say the line as "destroyed by", since even the official lyrics in the booklet, and on the band's website to this day, show the "Destroyed by" line), and that maybe the mix had somehow obscured it into sounding like "destroy my". Now we finally have the definitive answer in Simon's own words from the Duranasty article: "However, Idolator, in common with many past reviews, mistakenly quotes "Destroyed by MTV..." As the 1st line of Too Much Information. What I actually sing is "Destroy my MTV, I hate to bite the hand..." Written as a reply to the then ubiquitous "I want my MTV".
Of course it doesn't convey the sense of victimization which some would want to project on to the song. But then I didn't feel victimized. I simply DIDN'T want my MTV. And believe I was not alone in that sentiment."The fact that all official lyric reproductions continue to show "destroyed by" could indicate that it was originally meant to be that way but was adlibbed by Simon. I don't have my music hard drive here at work today, or I'd check the earlier versions included on Four on the Floor to see if maybe he said it that way on any of those tracks. Might be time for an "Ask Katy" question to Simon about this!
