i guess for discussion I'll post a comment.... despite liking Andy's guitar work on Astronaut, astronaut demos and "live from london" since thanks to him i was able to play the reunion songs since they're kinda easy to play on guitar....I would say I'd vote for warren since his guitar technique is very very different and virtuoso. the strumming styles of both are so different and you can easily tell the BIG difference on "come undone" and "ordinary world" If we discuss about the funk strumming style on the track Notorious on the live shows, both andy and warren have probably the closest rhythm speeds on that particular track. Andy's more aggressive while playing Notorious, however, whereas Warren seems to be more worried on how many funky strums he has to do...but he makes it seem so easy... Dom Brown... He's one cool guy but in my opinion I don't think he'll have an unknown special element that makes him stand out to become a permanent member. His style is REALLY good but he doesn't have the ferocious charisma of Andy on guitar and the technical prowess of Warren's use of pedals. BUT he does get the job done and this is the guy that's nailed the work of the 2 previous guitarists. In fact.... thanks to his role on the 2 recent albums , I was able to cover some of these songs on guitar, but when I try to cover Warren's era on songs, well, that just hard to do. I would pick this guy who did the wild boys guitar solo

We're opening this can of worms again, I see...
Andy: He was the first and for that he will always be loved. I loved his studio work in the beginning. For Astronaut, the studio work again was great. Live From London was his worst performance ever. He played not from his heart but like he had to stand out and prove that he was better than everyone else. Sorry, but I just despised it, and the one time I saw him during that tour (the second time Dom stood in). The exception was in July of 2005, in St. Louis when he did a short acoustic set with Simon only. That was beautiful...and I'm still trying to track down a copy from the station that has changed hands like 14 times since then. In my opinion, DD was his bread and butter (and Powerstation). He isn't a solo artist.
Warren: He came in at the right time and played the right stuff. He made music that will forever be remembered. I never got to see them live in the 90s but I saw DD play once live in St. Louis in 2000 and he just f**king rocked it! Despite my attention being focused on Nick (who I was in front of), Warren just nailed everything and sounded great. All of his studio work was solid and had feeling. Plus he looked like he was a member.
Dom: A solid guitarist whom I've had the pleasure of seeing live 3 times in 3 separate tours (Astronaut, RCM and AYNIN). I enjoy hearing him play live and he is solid. For having to learn pretty much the entire DD catalog for live shows, he's fantastic. He conveys the "original" guitar work yet adds his own touch. His studio work has been fan-freaking-tastic! He'll never be an official member of DD because he likes to do his own thing...and for that, I respect him.
What all of this boils down to is that I don't have a favorite DD guitarist. They all have their pros and cons.

Duran Duran is not the real Duran Duran without Andy. I still miss him a lot. Never got the chance to meet him. I'm from Belgium. I've seen DD in 1993. In 2008 and 2012. They also came 2 times in 2005 when Andy was still in the group but I was pregnant the first time they came. 2 months after my son was born, they also came but I couldn't leave my son with his dad. Andy has got the most chemistry. Dom is great too, but he's not Andy. I absolutely hated Warren. Too arrogant.
