I do wish he and DD would bury the hatchet and simply get along to the point where he could at least join them onstage for a few shows or just a number or two. Or it would be great if he would join them to write or play in a song or two on future albums. Not be a permanent member (so there wouldn't be any constant butting heads in the studio), but maybe an honorary member who could guest guitar every once in a while. Yes, that would be ideal! Maybe a one-off single written with Andy to promote an upcoming greatest hits? For the next album bring in Andy, Nile, Warren, Dom, Mark Ronson and John Frusciante for 1 or 2 songs each... the mind boggles! Plus I think it would work out much better for them to focus on a killer single with Andy than an entire album.

Really? I've never considered them a rock b and at all.Oh for sure! Give me Friends Of Mine, Careless Memories, and Nightboat over Skin Divers, Nite Runner, and Tempted any day. If that's too obvious then give me First Impression, Too Much Information, and None Of The Above over Silva Halo, Buried In The Sand, and Undergoing Treatment. And I'll take Last Day On Earth, Playing With Uranium, and Mars Meets Venus before Drowning Man, Love Voodoo, and Shotgun. Don't get me wrong - I don't think all of Duran's synth songs are inferior. Out Of My Mind is heavy synth but is an awesome song. Likewise The Man Who Stole A Leopard. And who can forget the fan favourite The Chauffeur? And not all of Duran's rock songs kick goals either. Read My Lips is okay, but doesn't quite work. Similarly All Along The Water. And One Of Those Days isn't a terrible song, but something holds it back from greatness. Generally speaking, any song where guitar riffs sing is rock to me. And any song where the keyboards sing is synth. Some of Duran's best music incorporate a good mix of both, where they are half-rock and half-synth. Maybe we should call them "rynth" or "sock" music What are some examples of Duran's best rynth/sock? Look at something like Shadows On Your Side, which has a heavy synth verse, but rock guitar chords in the chorus. It is a really cool song. Or Hungry Like The Wolf, which has a great mix of Nick's bubbly keyboards and Andy's awesome rock riff. Or Save A Prayer, which has the beautiful synth verses and Andy's soaring guitar from the end of the second chorus onwards. I love it when Duran "rock out". I love it when Duran "funk out". I don't love it when Duran "synth out". But that's just me, I have never really loved dance music or electronic music in general. I don't make exceptions for this just because Duran Duran choose to write the odd dance song or electronic piece. Just because Duran Duran choose a genre that isn't my favourite doesn't magically make it become attractive to me. I'm not that weak-minded that I feel I have to talk myself into liking a certain style of music just because my favourite band happens to be the one playing it! I like to judge each song on its merits. Rock on Duran See... I wouldn't put them in the "Rock" genre. To me, that is Kiss, Zep...the classic rock and roll. DD just doesn't fit my definition of rock. To me, they are in the pop genre, no matter what the style of the album. I, too, like the harmony between the guitar and synth, however I don't mind if the guitar is properly played and showcased in a song...and by the other standard, I don't mind if the synth carries the song; ala one of my all time favorites, TMWSAL. Just because a song is "synth heavy," doesn't mean it's electronic (or electronica). Tempted, Tricked Out and Zoom In were 3 of my favorite tracks from RCM, but I certainly wouldn't consider it electronica. I have a CD of DD songs done by electronic artists and I hate the damn thing! I guess what it boils down to is harmony between all of the instruments. But one instrument or another will always be featured differently on every song. Your last point is spot on because every song on an album is different. And that is something I like because I like a variety of sounds and don't want every song on an album sounding the same. EDIT: Let me define properly as I am using it. OW is one of my favorite DD songs and got me through some rough times in my life. It's perfect as is. When Andy played it on the Astronaut tour, he just slaughtered it. He didn't have the feel for the song and just wanted to rock out. The versions of Warren just jamming to it makes me feel the same way. Dom seems to know how to play the song and doesn't go off on a wild hard rock guitar tangent. So in my opinion, properly would be knowing the song and how to play it in context with the song and the other instruments so it's not ruined and a disappointment.

I always saw Duran as a 'White Funk' band, not pop or rock, but thats me. I welcome all and any attempts to reconcile, and wave bye-bye to the by-gones. Um... Yes, there is a point of no return in human relationships. I just don't think of AT as part of Duran today. He's part of Duran of the past. And that's my sentimentality about Andy Taylor. I think you guys misinterpret, so please lets just say this. My point was about human relationships, not wheither AT is fit or necessary in the band today. I think one thing has lead to another, and drugs and alcohol and music dont actually mix very well. I agree Andy has strong values and egotises music which simply doesnt need that kind of attitude to sound great already. All I'm saying is, I waited too long to find my dad, and now he's dead I still struggle to imagine why the living hate each other. In the end, our lives dont mean a thing. Why do we have to go around beeaatching and spreading ill will? SLB is one of the nicest chaps on this planet, and I just think he was saying; money and love and hate aside, thanks, hope you doin ok. If it was an AT post from Andys side, maybe I'd think he wanted to get back into the band for money, but SLB doesnt usually consider money in his posts on twitter. Lets not read too much into this

I don't think Andy uses that account any more, his last post was over three years ago.
