Fellow Duranies, Time to share important info:) There will be a deluxe vinyl version targeted for Japan...and we are blessed with the following tracklist in addition to the usual suspects. Planet Roaring Valentine Stones Northern Lights As Seen From A Distance On Evil Beach Cinderella Ride Pressure Off - Night Version Pressure Off - Night Version instrumental So we all have something to look forward to. My source remains anonymous Vinyl or CD? Japan hasn't issued vinyl in a long time, so this raises an eyebrow of doubt. And so far there hasn't been any word from the Vinyl Factory as to what will be on the vinyl edition of Paper Gods out of the UK.

I visited several record shops recently. You know what surprises me? That there is not a single Duran Duran album out there (re-pressed). NOTHING. While most other bands even have their whole back catalogue available. It's a shame. There's just absolutely NOTHING in stock.
Some you might be able to order online for absurd high prices, but still Duran Duran is invisible for the vinyl collector when it comes down to retail...

Some you might be able to order online for absurd high prices, but still Duran Duran is invisible for the vinyl collector when it comes down to retail... Well there are still two record stores in my provincial town that sell new vinyl, but their prices are usually the same as (or even higher than) Amazon UK or Germany including P&P. As for CDs: they have the usual suspects (Rio, Greatest, TWA, AYNID, Astronaut and/or RCM) but who would be interested in buying them? Nobody buys backcatalogue CDs anymore (the fans already purchased them in the 90s and the general public stopped buying physical releases a few years ago). The interesting Duran re-releases are all out of print (Arcadia, Power Station, Rio, DD, 7ATRT box sets with DVD). Well my local HMV is doing buy 2 Duran albums for £10 and the Duran section (yes!! Their very own section! Very unusual) has the back catalogue in stock. So at least there is some promo there That is not particularly cheap... Don't think they would sell in the Netherlands for €7 per CD nowadays. You can buy a-ha's (there they are again ) most popular 5 albums in one CD box set for €14 (also on Warner). Warner should have done that with DD too (the first 3 albums + Notorious and TWA).

I silently hope Warner is persuadable to re-issue the back catalog on vinyl Since EMI had no interest in Duran Duran all together, like the rest of the world

I silently hope Warner is persuadable to re-issue the back catalog on vinyl Why? For us to purchase these albums AGAIN, but now from a new master with heavy compression and dynamic range issues? Young fans who are into vinyl can find the back catalogue in the $1/€1 bins in every used record store Only a re-issue on vinyl for TWA could have some added value. Personally I don't like re-issues on vinyl that have bonus tracks etc. (I like that very much on CDs though). Just a 180gram double-LP edition of the original album is what I would like for TWA.

I for one would ONLY be interested in the release of Medazzaland & Pop Trash on vinyl, which only ever got CD & Cassette releases. The band outright owns the Masters for Medazzaland as per their exit deal with EMI, so they could put it out anytime they desired. As for Pop Trash, it is customary for rights to revert to the band after 15 years, so they could possibly be able to release that as well. I know that the contract with Hollywood records was terminated prematurely, so I'm not sure what sort of concessions either side would have had to make. Either way, I would be BIG TIME into getting either/both of those albums on vinyl. The rest of them I have the original pressings of, so why would I want some lesser rerelease?
