so what software can be used to make an online conference? if bandmates/contributors have to jam and exchange the tempo/note/etc of an instrument. How would we achieve coordination? via Skype? coz I can my old PC and have my Guitar be connected directed. Although guitar is not my strength but some Bass im good at.

This project could be done where everyone uploads a track they've created and then put a vote up for the best 12 songs or upload individual stems, so someone records a drum track, another a guitar etc.
As this is an album for Duran fans, maybe a revamp on a old title, maybe Thank You 2 U, or a title that again everyone votes on.

I have listened to every post. I would actually like to put the material that we have up for a vote now and have everyone begin work on one track, breaking it down and then building it back up.
I have been going out of my mind trying to choose the one I would vote for. For me I think it is a section from diem32's Duran Style Demo 1 that has an aggressive energy that I would like to see pushed in a Careless Memories kind of direction. I think building a song around that would provide the right kind of focus to start off IMO. I looped that section and intend to post it. I hummed out a tune for a chorus and wrote some words for it listening to it last night. I will try to make the best use of those phone recordings and present that idea the best I can.
I guess I am thinking of a poll now and another one in October or November to reevaluate all the song material and put it to a more solid vote. For me the goal is the first two records of Duran Duran and a unified creative assault on one thing.

This is a question that has been on my mind. In a google search I came across some links to online collaboration uploading sites. I have no idea how reliable because I haven't had a chance to research further. It would be nice if we could find a free universal DAW that everyone can use. I will try and get around to researching that. If anyone knows feel free. As far as conferencing or live jamming hopefully that won't be necessary but as far as audio, midi, tempo, etc we should be able to figure something out with a DAW. We also are going to need a way to pass back and forth audio without it getting degraded, compressed etc.... I know nothing about Sound Cloud and what it does to audio when it uploads.

My pick so far goes to these below. The first link is a cut from Diem32's Duran Style Demo 1. I am wanting a Careless Memories, Hold Back The Rain, direction for this track, maybe even an aggressive kind of Girls On Film. Diem32soundcloud.com/carvertronic/diem32-duran-style-demo-1-cut/s-PkaeKI am getting a Girls On Film vibe for sure, from the guitar, and ITSISK on the synth parts Cantualla1 - Vomb soundcloud.com/vomb-1/demodd2Maybe combine the two tracks, the guitar verse from Cantualla and the chorus bit would be Diem32 cut section. Sorting the key and maybe making the guitar on the verse just a bit more aggressive to match more closely the chorus could work. Both have a trashy quality I would like to bring out more. I have also been messing around with some vocal ideas for each.

Voting is open. Track submissions are in the main post!
My vote goes to Diem32 Duran Style Demo 1 for the section I made a clip of in the post above. It could be a great catalyst.

I kind of wanted to keep our poll list from being to long but I was thinking about adding some anyway. Let me see what I can do. I really like dddemo 67 at about the .40 mark on.

'Far Away' sounds like a DD instrumental from around 1983, very good
