That's bs... How could you not know it was HLTW? Subconscious my a*s... It could easily be subconscious actually. That's what happens when you write music... Starting with those chords and roughly the same tempo it would be easy inadvertently to re-write the melody of HLTW, which is quite an "obvious" tune over the chords underneath. I love it the way people have to jump to conspiratorial conclusions about stuff like this. I have accidentally "written" other people's songs and so I know how it feels to not get there first. Ringo Starr had this problem. Every time when he brought his own song, Paul & John had laugh at him and explained him which songs he ripped off.

I actually find it very disturbing that they can blatently copy HLTW like that. Its also troublesome if in fact the fanbase of 5sos actually didn't realize it for the most part. I sure hope DD were compensated fairly!!

I was reading Rolling Stone magazine about a year ago and 5SOS gave Duran props about how they had the teen girl appeal but also had the good songs that guys could listen to so they are definitely aware of Duran so I'm sure it's not a coincidence that they borrowed a hit song from them. As long as they gave them writing credits Its all good.
