Your version of PO is much better than what was put out, as lots of people said the guitar needed ramping up. I like a thicker sound to DD songs like the first album. Yet something like Too Late Marlene from Big Thing is a great song but thin and tinny if you know what I mean. You work is always top notch tho mate.

If you was on about my version of big thing not sounding a rampant as other albums I've tinkered with,it's because it's from vinyl but rest assured,I'll be working on a purely digital version that'll have extras & remixes included And PO guitar now sounds solid, great to hear Nile's riff so clearly

I thought math was praising the sound of Big Thing in your version, Stu, but maybe I misunderstood. I certainly am - I think you've beefed it up quite alright (John's bass on Too Late Marlene is deliciously bottom-heavy, and the opening drums on Big Thing finally sound powerful and convincing), it's the production of the album that is treble-heavy and a bit bass-light in the first place. You managed to make up for this in a splendid way by making it sound meatier without changing it beyond recognition.
I'm also happy that you did it from the vinyl, as the 2010 remaster is appalling soundwise, all flattened highs, mushy mids and reduced soundstage - it's like listening to AM radio. I had actually been listening to the remaster when you did your version, and boom! it hit me like night and day, opening up the album for me like my old vinyl did all those years ago. Of course I'll be checking out the all-digital version at any rate - it can't really be worse than that remaster to begin with - and I hope math will find his own satisfaction to it.

hey Stu, again, just a first-coupla-listens assessment.. funnily enough I think I actually prefer the beta-version, coz the more upfront bass and trebles make it livelier overall. it's still the first listens, so it may be a case of 'optometrician's doubt' - "I think these are better" - "no! sorry let me try those before" - "actually you know, maybe..", haha. I reserve my final verdict for many more listens. thanks! P.S. if it's not a problem for you, could you include 16-bit FLAC links of your releases as well? I can convert 24-bit, but the process is really a drag.. The beefy 16bit flacs are now available through the super link
