I just hope Nick returns in full force by next year. I'm concerned that he may retire from touring... mynick7 would probably have a better idea of this, since she has spoken to him on more than one occasion, but my sense is that Nick really likes touring and it is extremely unlikely that he would want to retire from it. The one who hated touring was Andy, which I feel is a bit ironic for the rock-influenced guitarist of an otherwise pop band. Roger's problems in the 80's were more to do with the trappings of fame. Baring unforeseen health issues, I don't think you have anything to worry about.

I hope you're right. I'm glad I got to see them 20 times. For me that is a lot as it was spread out over 32 years!

Oh, I don't think Nick would give up the touring unless his own health or that of a family member meant he had to. They all seem to enjoy touring more now than back in the day - at least they can leave the hotel and go to museums and art galleries.

Nick is always the cryptic one, isn't he? I love that he keeps his personal life private and isn't on social media. Nick isn't going to stop touring. Simon took a break from the due to health and he didn't leave the group as the other members had. He literally HAD to. DD had no frontman at that point. But Nick loves touring and performing live and meeting the fans. He won't give that up unless he absolutely has to. He'll be back and life will be right again!

Yeah. there was never a confirmation that it was a family "member" though. I don't want to invade his privacy, but am just curious about his intention to return to the band and live shows after a "short time".

All that was mentioned was "urgent family matter" and, in his words during the Kafe, "issues." He has all intentions in the world to return to Duran Duran and performing again. Sometimes life just throws you a curve bull and you just gotta deal with it. I'm sure missing part of the tour is not on his list of favorite things to do.

I also think his illness was unexpected. I am under the impression that whatever is going on has been brewing long enough for him to know he needed to look for a solution and he was able to secure some help this time as it was not last minute. He DID play some dates before bringing her in. I am sure he had no choice but to be there even though whatever he is dealing with was already an issue. I thought the health issues were not him but his daughter? I do hope all is well? I was responding to why when he WAS ill, he had to cancel shows rather than being able to get a replacement. I am sure the illness was sudden and unexpected, where whatever is going on now may have begun a while ago and became serious, so there was some more warning this time to schedule someone so he could leave.
