I was going to ask if Nile ever actually worked with Andy in DD--I had forgotten about Wild Boys and those initial Notorious sessions. And the Astronaut demos. Personally I would have found this moment awkward, like bumping into an old workmate who was fired (I guess literally what this was). But of course, Nile being as nice as he is, just sees Andy as an old friend and a great musician! Thanks for posting, Andre! A few of Nile’s tracks made it on to the final Astronaut album: Bedroom Toys, Point of No Return and Sunrise all credit him in some production capacity. Nile is the one who let Andy loose on The Wild Boys. His guita has never been more raw and prominent up to that point. I also believe he was supposed to have a bigger role in the Power Station project but ultimately let Bernard take over. And let’s not forget his Reflex remix giving the original Fab Five their first trans Atlantic number 1.

His guita has never been more raw and prominent up to that point. His guitar was pretty rough for example in Careless Memories. It was also noticeable in GOF, PE, HLTW, FOM or b-side CUASM. But it is true that he did not have enough opportunities.

I don't recall if it was ever elaborated on, but it sounded like from one source that Andy contributed his Notorious parts while it was just him and the engineer in the room at the time. Obviously, Nile would have had to have looked those things over at some point. But they certainly did get their time in during the early Astronaut sessions and writing Wild Boys and such! I read somewhere that at the time of the Notorious sessions Andy was already checked out of the band mentally, but for legal reasons his lawyer advised him to contribute to the album. I also read in the same place that the rest of DD knew this and wanted nothing to do with Andy. I read that the rest of the band and Nile were out celebrating Nile's birthday when Andy went the studio to provide his legally required contributions. It is strange that no one, including Andy, can tell which songs on Notorious he was involved in. In this way, it remains at the level of speculation.

Andy's guitar from this recording can definitely be heard on the final Album Version. HOLD ME September 18th/19th at Air Studios in London. For the album, Warren adapted Andy's guitar. The song evolved (again), with Warren playing on the final version, but possibly some bits and pieces from Andy are still to be heard. VERTIGO September 18th/19th at Air Studios in London. Only a very little part of this recording can be heard on the Album Version. But Andy's full guitar riff is found on both the Mantronix and B-Boy mixes. AMERICAN SCIENCE Andy definitely also played the first 'solo' on American Science.

Hmm.............very, very interesting ! How ironic or how coincidental or how unexpected or perhaps err "an accidentally on purpose, type meeting". Nile hasn't said where they are, has he? (Maybe he ain't allowed/is forbidden?) I've had the odd conversation with Nile (x4) one of which lasted approx 45 min and from those experiences and what I've seen of Nile in interviews etc I'm taking a good guess & it wouldn't surprise me if a collaboration was occurring. Nile's not going to say, "we're working together on a DD project" if he ain't able/permitted. Who knows maybe AT is doing his (trial) sessions with Nile, I mean DD have the power here don't they, considering AT has left twice already. (I'm not having a dig, just stating the obvious including what I've read from Andy's book). I mean John Frusciante did some great stuff on the PGs LP without even ever being in the same studio with DD. & Who knows, if such a situation works, then maybe AT will get on board for a tour
