It would be rather interesting were they to feature a chronological setlist reflecting their growth as a band over the decades. I fully realize that they will need to play the “hits”, however, it would be interesting if they would play alternate versions of them. Highly unrealistic playlist in 3...2...1....
See Me, Repeat Me Girls On Film (AIR Version) Planet Earth (Night Version) Tel Aviv (W/Lyrics) Hungry Like The Wolf (Acoustic) Rio (Part II) Lonely In Your Nightmare Union Of The Snake Shadows On Your Side The Reflex Meet El Presidente Matter Of Feeling (Andy Demo Version) Notorious (Acoustic) Big Thing Do You Believe In Shame Land Violence Of Summer My Antarctica Downtown Ordinary World (Acoustic) None Of The Above Electric Barbarella Out Of My Mind Someone Else Not Me Lava Lamp What Happens Tomorrow Taste The Summer
Encore A
Faster Than Light Khanada Like An Angel I Believe/All I Need To Know Yo Bad Azizi
Encore B
The Flame Communication I Do What I Do I Might Lie Walking In L.A. Grey Lady Of The Sea
Finale
Good Times (With Band Intros)

For a 40th anniversary tour, I think Duran should do something they never do-- rehearse TWICE as many songs as they intend to play on any given night, and give themselves the ability to choose which songs to play for each concert. That way, if they do 2 shows in the same area, they can play an almost completely different set list on each night and really reward the fans who come to both shows.
With that idea in mind, I did my list a little differently. My list is comprised of 25 (well, 27 after a couple of adjustments) pairs of songs. In my DD40 Tour fantasy, at each show they would play one song from each pairing-- for example, either "Planet Earth" or "Girls On Film" would be played at each show-- but not both. This would allow them to change things up a little bit at each show, and keep things a little more interesting for both themselves and the audience.
I selected a few choice album tracks and B-sides, but I didn't throw in too many big surprises because, well, I'm realistic. No covers on the list (unless you count "Some Like It Hot" and "Election Day"). "White Lines" is great, but it's time to give it a rest. This should be the time to highlight Duran's music and how many great songs they've contributed to the world of pop music over the last 4 decades.

Realistically, I doubt the casual listener will care so much about such a tour. It will mostly be long time fans. However, and sadly, the setlist will not reflect the deep catalogue wishes. When their ongoing setlist is an 80% greatest hits; why would this tour be any different?

Barring tracks from the new album, here is my list with Andy back on guitar. If not Andy, use a true virtuoso/DD fan like John Frusciante.
