Great interview! I have heard it before, but that was really cool to hear again! Fantastic stuff, the more interviews and blogs I hear about Duran's actual music the better. Thank you very much for posting that Cantualla, if there are any others like that out there feel free to share again (Plus I'm looking forward to hearing a lot more from Nick Masters, he sounds interesting )

FANTASTIC! Thank you Cantualla1!
I hadn't heard that one before! Yes, please do every song!
That's exactly the kind of nitty gritty music talk I was talking about in the other thread. Really great to hear such in-depth analysis about their songs. I'm glad people are starting to appreciate their real true songwriting talents.
I was a little annoyed at the mistakes from the host (like Nick Masters!), and I thought he was a little harsh on Andy (plus that annoying co-host chiming in with "Moon River"!). But listening to the isolated tracks was very interesting. I never heard the sampled hand claps throughout. And listening to Simon's voice isolated--WOW! What a powerful performance. Really strong vocals like he could blow the walls out of a house!

When this was posted here a couple years ago I listened to it over and over. Then I contacted Christian James Hand who sent me a link to his SoundCloud profile which includes dozens and dozens of Session track-by-track breakdowns. Rio is the only one by Duran Duran but there's a ton of other cool breakdowns there. soundcloud.com/theklossessions

I guess I must have missed it when it was originally posted!
Thanks for the link, stopdead. There are definitely several in that list that I will be listening to!

I should add that Christian Hand updates his Soundcloud with a new breakdown almost weekly. It's a weekly segment on KLOS in L.A. In the last couple months he's broken down George Michael, The Cars, Queen, Bon Jovi, et al. Super cool stuff.

This is amaziNGGGG!!! BUT: How do they manage to get all the isolated instruments and voices?
Is there an app or something that does that? Or do they have access to mastertapes?
Can someone please shed a light ? Thnx

Can someone please shed a light ? Thnx Christian Hand is a musician with a lot of friends and connections in the music industry so that's probably his source. There are some programs that can amplify and/or mute certain elements of a song but they aren't perfect. I've also heard that isolated tracks (or maybe just the guitar tracks) can be accessed on Guitar Hero or one of those types of video games.

Can someone please shed a light ? Thnx All the authentic isolated multitracks floating around the internet are either from video games (Guitar Hero, Garage Band, etc) or from when groups release them publicly for fan remixing (as Radiohead, R.E.M., and others have done on a few songs). There are literally hundreds and hundreds of official, original recordings broken down this way! All you need to do is search youtube for Duran Duran multitracks or isolated guitar, bass, etc. and you should be able to find the separate tracks for: Girls on Film Hungry Like the Wolf Rio The Reflex Those are the only ones that I know for sure were included in video game releases, or at least they're the only ones that have been decoded. Sadly some of the uploaders have had their accounts shut down (absolutely ridiculous...do the deluded and greedy to a sociopathic level powers that be really think we'd go to the trouble of downloading all the separate tracks for a particular song and then reassemble them in, say, Audacity, just to get a song we most likely already have, and even if we didn't, we could go to the record companies' official youtube uploads to just get the song that way?!?) so some may be harder to find than others..
