I used to be a massive Chili Peppers fan, and quite a collector, right up until Stadium Arcadium, and then it all seemed to just tail off into melodies and dittys which seemed to have the RHCP sound, but none of the fight or vigour of their earlier material.
JF did a fine job of butchering guitar solos on the DD album, almost as well as AT on his return, and I do wonder when guitar players will return to killer metal grooves. All this experimental stuff is all very well and good, but fans would rather have riffs than diffs.
If JF can shake up the flowery RHCP into something which rocks, then good on him I say, time will tell. Josh did feel like the 5th Beatle syndrome, the invisible man, but he could play the hits with justice. I saw them many times live.

Fruciante's RHCP work peaked with Blood Sugar Sex Magic, only his second album with that band. Californication was good but Stadium Arcadium was awful. I've only skipped through their subsequent albums, shaking my head in disappointment. Perhaps with JF's return the band will think about a return to their funky roots...

Never a big RHCF fan. Of course it was difficult to ignore BSSM when it came out but never loved them. Californication also has the dubious honour of being the first major album that used heavy compression in a bad way. And Stadium Arcadium has one of the worst covers of all time.

This guitarist is one more of the lot, there are millions of guitarists better than this one, I don't know why they lick his balls for appearing in "What Are the Chances?", I'm sorry, but Warren wipes that man away.

And that's why nobody outside of Duran and Missing Person's knows Warren...John is a great guitarist! Besides wedding album and a few gems here and there Warren has been subpar.. Everyone knows John...

JF is a great guitarist
WC is a great guitarist & in addition he's a virtuoso too reminiscent of Jimmy Page's brilliance !
You can't compare JFs (DD contribution) to WCs (DDs contribution) coz there is NO comparison WHATSOEVER !
To compare them is both an insult to DD and WC Fact JF has never been in the same studio as DD
Who on this board needs reminding that WC wrote with DD and was an official member of DD..................anyone?
For the record JF wasn't !
Enjoy !!!
& this my dear DD enthusiasts happens to be my 1000 th post. Just noticed
