How do people feel about the band potentially changing lyrics to some of the songs on the new album? Secret Oktober and Love Voodoo are not even close to Halloween themed (lyrically). The fact that the titles have been changed makes me think they've also changed the lyrics to make it almost an entirely different song. Great question…I think I am ok with it…? For example, SLB added that whole new verse / bit at the end of the 90’s live Secret Oktober, and that didn’t bother me…likewise, Drive By added to The Chauffeur…I guess I am expecting the music to be the thing that’s different vs the lyrics with these songs - AT’s guitar on SO, WC putting a new twist on LV…but if they change up the lyrics, I’ll be okay with it if the music works…🤷♂️

Still blown away. 😎❤️

I think I'll enjoy the tracks the more they seperate themselves from the original. I can imagine other fans feeling like the band are ruining a song they cherish though. No one would bat an eye if they were re-working Dirty Great Monster 😂

If a remake replaced an original, that would definitely be a problem.

Funny....I got to thinking about the Japanese CD as well for this album. Had a look on Japan site for Amazon and nothing as of yet. They did good with the release of Future Past (bonus tracks AND a print), so hopefully this album will have a least a bonus track...that is if the band decided to do more covers than the ones that made the album. These Japanese bonus tracks are always announced at the last minute for some reason (but almost all Japanese CDs have them). It can always be a dodgy remix or alternative mix of one of the tracks of course. Or one of the live tracks from the Halloween show last year. But who knows?

Not sure if this clip has been posted already, 🤷♂️ I’m happy to delete if it has
I like Mr Hudson, on the road to medazzaland doco I thought he did good and from that, I understand that he “gets” DD
His work thus far on DM IMO is promising

If a remake replaced an original, that would definitely be a problem. Yes exactly. I feel similarly about the night versions and various remixes- if you like it, play it…otherwise, skip it and just keep listening to the original. (I realize a “remix” isn’t exactly a 1:1 to what is happening here, but close enough for this discussion). Ideally we’ll get a “Perfecto Out of My Mind” scenario with a great original and great remix / alt version…

He is clearly a DD fan and apparently he is a sweet and easy going person. Plus he is from Birmingham. No wonder the band likes to work with him.

Totally agree p194 Quote “not sure what genre this is?” that’s exactly what art (in our case) ‘audio art’ should be Thought provoking, different, unable to be categorised, discussion creating, social, the application of creative skill and imagination. BH puts it so well ‘prehistoric and futuristic’ what I love most (thus far of what we’ve heard) is that it’s radically different to his work on PGs Like, why recreate what he’s already achieved with DD? it’s all too exciting really

While PG is not my favorite album, the more I learn about Mr Hudson, the more I like. As ATR said, he came across well in the Road to Medazz doc. He is good friends with and former roommate of Jake Shears, who he played on Whoosh when he was a guest. I just checked out his Instagram, and apparently he’s vegan and has an adopted dog! 🙂
