I would imagine that any song Andy had co-writing credit on will have to be reworked to avoid paying Andy anything. Also, any songs that he plays guitar to, will have to be rewritten, otherwise Andy can take them to court and win millions. But of course, they could just pay Andy for his contribution, if Andy is even willing, but that would require them to get a hold of him, and apparently they can't, so seems that they will have to get back into the studio with a guitarist and rework all of Andy's parts.

If Duran is run like a corporation, as some bands are, and Andy was, in essence, a hired player, there may have been legal documents in place that allow Duran, the corporate entity, the right to retain control over whatever Andy contributed creatively to the band in the event of his departure. I suspect that after what they went through in the 80s, they would have taken measures at the time of the reunion to ensure that Duran, as a commercial entity, doesn't suffer financially from a band member leaving.

In Nick's year end message on DDM he implied that 5 or 6 tracks recorded earlier in 2006 were to be included on the new album along with the 3 Timbatracks and a few more that they were going to wrap up in the first two months of 2007. So my guess is that they are just going into the studio to finish 2 or 3 tracks that either Andy did not complete or were written without Andy or have not been written yet. So hopefully the original Andy tracks remain intact....
I would also guess that if Andy was involved with writing the earlier tracks he would be entitled to something whether they were rerecorded or not.

For a band that have in the past relied heavily on us, their loyal legions, to faithfully buy their music and attend their concerts, they seem to be trying pretty hard to piss us off... or maybe they just assume that seeing as we've put up with their crap for so long, they can keep dishing it out. They've probably lost more long term fans in the last 6 months than they could ever imagine. It's really sad to watch

What about the supposition that even after the reunion DD were still in effect a legal trio of SLB, NR & JT ? If so, would Andy have indeed been no more than a hired hand as Ronnie Wood was for twenty years in the Rolling Stones.
After the 1986 debacle, and as everyone is now a lot older and hopefully wiser too, you'd have thought that the legalities of someone leaving had been put in place.

Maybe the record company is wise, simply First do this album without Andy's cooperation, and after a while they wil release the original one<hey it's a money buisness right Maybe they don't want to pay Andy,or Andy broke all strings to duran duran,no matter what it's sad and horrible. I do think 1 day we will hear the original attempt of the album, but for fans It would have been better to hear it immediatly, instead of later, just keep mailing the record company, you'll never know if you don't trie right?

The male DJ was just joking about getting free stuff. He told John that his wife and the female DJ love Juicy and started very obviously joking about John hooking him up with free merchandise. At the end of the interview he brought it up again and John laughed and said, "I think it's time we brought payola back." He was laughing, and the DJs were laughing. I don't think anyone was taking it as anything other than a joke.
I agree with the part about them being yahoos though. I couldn't turn the damn station off soon enough.

My guess is that some new tracks are being recorded in the upcoming weeks (without Andy or Timbaland). I hope someday we get to hear the other tracks or demos Andy was invovled in that are not going to be included on the new album. I really think Andy brings a musical edge to Duran Duran and I always look forward to his contributions. Cheers!

don't suppose anyone was able to record the interview?
I tried to listen at work, and figured the firewall was blocking it, but apparently it was the fact of being outside the USA!
