The first part of it is a really good history lesson of the music seen in England back in the late 70's. I really liked that part.

I have a copy, it gives some good insight on the band. It's amazing how he got to meet the members and compile all those interviews.

I enjoyed it but it didn't really have much in the way of new info.

Yes, i've recently read it...
I found it mostly interesting but also a bit tedious in some places (it gets a bit involved with exact release dates etc.), never thought i'd say that about my favourite band! I wanted more personal stuff (a la Motley Crue - 'The Dirt'!!)
If you havent followed them closely throughout their whole careers then I would suggest buying it ... if only to fill in the gaps.

Paperback edition? Where? In the US? No, a friend of mine picked it up in the UK for me. It's got a different cover and a different title, but it's the same book released by the same publisher as the hardback edition.

I did not purchase the book becasue so many were were commenting that it revealed nothing new, information lifted from past interviews, and no Duran member were interviewed for the book.
Sounds like nothing new revealed - which is a shame - would like to know more about their hey day (especially the tours, goings on behind the scened, the 1986 split, etc.).

I really got a sense of the scene, both before the band got going and after. Without help from the band, it's hard to come up with anything salacious. And given many of us are voracious consumers of Duran information, it's as much our own fault. There isn't much we don't already know, and if the band ain't talking, we'll never find out.

It was interesting and worth a read (maybe it helped that I read it while attending BANG! ?). But I didn't save it. I actually recall a few small surprises in there, even for me, and I've read an awful lot about DD. Unfortunately, they were so memorable that I've already forgotten them. Sorry.
