well OK Mr Box, I'll come to your rescue (sort of) I wouldn't say I LOVE ASWI, but I do think it's interesting, and quite stunning to look at. The main problem with it is the crap song; plus, watching it again thanks to your link, it does seem a little dated. It certainly doesn't inspire the hatred I'm seeing here! Now Missing - yes, that is beautiful, the song & video... OH, and I voted for NMOM, cos it's so damn silly, and embarrassing. And I know lots of people love it, and I've never understood why!

I know I'm going to get beat about the head and shoulders by all the romantics here, but I went with SAP. For me, it's too pedestrian, the "plot" (if you can call it that) is virtually non-existent. If looks like they took the extra b-roll footage they shot for all the other 10 videos in Sri Lanka, glued it together in a semi-cohesive form, and laid it on the track. What does dancing in a breezy room have to do with elephants and ruins? Yes, it's pretty, and damn Simon is freaking hot in it, but for a total package, it's not good.
ASWI, although choppy and not a great watch now, was pretty cutting edge when it came out. The use of stop motion was making a come back, and the digital medium used to shoot and edit it was in its infancy, so that makes it cool for me.
AVTAK. . .cheesy. Fondue cheesy. I still cringe on "Bon, Simon LeBon." Nick stole Liz Taylor's wig. Andy and Roger could have been replaced by flying monkeys and not have been missed. John needs a cheeseburger. Not a great piece of video, but it's got its fun moments. It was my number 2 pick.
That's my 2 cents. Heather

I never liked the 'A View to a Kill' video.. aweful fashion and I didn't like the movie.. the song was OK, not the Duran Duran I had discovered some years back.
Give me 'Save A Prayer' and 'Hungry Like the Wolf' anyday.

'All She Wants Is' is one of my favourites! 'Someone Else Not Me' looks cheap, but 'Serious' is my least favourite, dull video for a dull song.

Yes All She Wants Is is a boring piece of pants where even the band themselves don't seem to care. I mean Dean Chamberlain did all the work, and had to use dummies of the band because they couldn't be arsed taking the time to appear in it.
Similarly Someone Else Not Me, both the song and the video, could put a chronic insomniac with a caffeine addiction to sleep. Please don't operate heavy machinery after watching that video folks.
And what the hell happened to Meet El Presidente? Did they just decide to release it as a single at the very last second, and so five minutes before they went on stage that night decided to mime along to it considering they were all dressed up and ready to go?
Regardless of how bad those videos are I actually think that Girl Panic takes the crown for worst Duran Duran video. You know why? Because they took an amazing song, infinitely better than the title track which is one of the lesser songs on the record, and made a stop-start mockumentary which only diehard fans like us can appreciate.
It's like they said, hey we have a really cool song that just screams classic Duran Duran, you know the one (along with half a dozen others) that we should have released instead of All You Need Is Now. What sort of video should we produce? Then one bright spark says "Hey, how about we get some really awesome 80s supermodels to play the members of the band performing? How good would it be to see Naomi Campbell pretending to be Simon Lebon, or Cindy Crawford pretending to be John Taylor?"
"Great, sounds cool. Get to it."
"Hang on" says one overpaid marketing guru sitting at the back of the room. "That does sound good, but how much better would it be if, instead of music promoting the classic Duran Duran sound, we make the majority of the video an interview spoof that would bore to death any casual or potentially new Duran Duran fan, but would really appeal to the diehard Duran Duran fans who are the only ones patient enough and smart enough to appreciate who each band member is and how clever it is to use previous interview answers in the clip".
"Yes yes, very good, but I can do better. How about we play a part of the song, but then when it starts to get the viewers interested in the music we actually stop it to show the interviews, and then lose all momentum of the track in the process".
"Hmm, nice, but remember - MORE IS MORE! Make sure it goes for almost 10 minutes to really drag it out! Four minute clips simply playing music be damned, that was so last year".
"Righto, we're ready to go. Great song - check. Great idea for a video - check. Kill all momentum of the music when it just starts getting into the song - check. Only appeal to the hundred or so regulars on Proboards and diehard Duranies - check. Make it 10 minutes long, I mean the longer anything is the better right - check".
"Hang on, DON'T LEAVE THE ROOM JUST YET! Nobody has suggested including pointless lesbian scenes that make no sense whatsoever, what is wrong with you all???"
"Of course" they all say knowingly, slapping their foreheads in unison. "This is 2011, pointless lesbian scenes are so risque and cutting edge we'd be stupid not to incorporate them! The song doesn't make sense without them and this will get everybody standing around the water cooler talking about Duran Duran again".
The band and marketing guys then leave the room, leaving the Mr Burns lookalike rubbing his hands together saying "Exx-cellent" to himself.

I will happily stand up for All She Wants Is, too. Great song with a great video. I would agree Meet el presidente is poor for a performance video and very dull. Do you believe in shame looks too American and again weak for such a brilliant song.

Yet again, way to resurrect and 8 year old thread. I voted for Violence of Summer, as at least all the others tried for some artistic merit or special effects, and I dont mind ASWI, or the bad acting some much (anymore) in AVTAK and NMOM.
