Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to let everyone know the status of the donation to Wes' charity.
My apologies for not giving an update earlier, but my life has been a smidge of a shitstorm for the past 3 weeks. Additionally, for those who hadn't heard, I started taking classes at NYU. The past 10 days have been filled with advisors, exceptions, and finally classes (this week).
Anyway...
First, I would like to thank everyone for giving so generously to the raffle. I consider it one of those incredible gifts of the evening that not only did we get a special treat from Andy, but in the minor technical difficulty of getting the treat up and running, we were given a wonderful opportunity to do the raffle ticket-thing. And wow...you guys were amazing! For me, it was truly the most humbling time of the evening. A big thanks to Michelle (Pimmscup) who took the time to continue the love and to make a round of the lobby for those who were not in the theater for the attempt at Andy's video.
Later in the evening, Dani and I stepped to the side to account for the donations together. I am very pleased to announce that $800 -- on the nose (not $795, not 774, but truly $800 even...Dani as witness! We counted 3 times!) was raised from the actual raffle. During the raffle, one of the attendees discussed making an additional contribution once they returned home. So, I will be following up on that. And, I have asked a vendor of mine that has a "donation match" policy to encourage employee philanthropy if they would be interested in extending it to this cause -- I'm not technically an "employee", but it doesn't hurt to ask, right? I don't expect a full-match, but even a percentage would be awesome.
I hope to have everything settled and have the donation/letter off to Berklee around Feb 15th. I will make certain to post the details of all of that stuff at that time.
Thanks so much to everyone who participated!
Sheila
