Physical releases cost more money and based on recent sales figures, the record company probably decided they wouldn't make a profit on a physical release. That's business.

Not necessarily. A lot of heritage acts tour without singles. There are also bands that will tour for a couple of years between albums. FM radio isn't what it used to be, it isn't guaranteed that anyone's recent songs will get played as they're touring these days. DD will be okay, second single or not.
