the legal bs does seem really lame - it is only going to be expensive and fruitless in the end - sad really

Legal proceedings? gee, I'm shocked.
If this is true, you mean to tell me Andy didn't get a warning or phone call or something stating his work visa was expiring alllll those months they were waiting to work with Timbaland? or that he couldn't file an extension? He didn't think to confirm it was in check? if he hates management so much, thinks they're a load of idiots, why is he leaving something this important and needed entirely up to them? you'd think he'd be wanting to stay on top of this to ensure he could attend the recording sessions. The week in NY was not an overnight plan - they were trying to get this nailed down for months.
Implying this is the only reason why the band dissolved their relationship is clever lawyer word play. I'd like to hear what the other 4 guys have to say, but I'm sure they're not allowed to utter a word publicily.

Looking at the wording, I don't think it says the partnership was dissolved because he couldn't get a visa - only that that's the reason he wasn't in NY. The partnership dissolving is a separate issue.
As far as the timing goes, I remember a website that reported Andy quit, then printed a retraction about a month later; it's possible, given the way legal things go, that the legal team has only just gotten around to sending retraction notices to the print media. It's all a matter of semantics in the legal world; if Andy was fired, he might be entitled to more $$$ than he would be if he quit, and the retractions are done so DD's lawyers can't use the print media as evidence to claim that Andy did quit.
As far as getting the working visa and Andy taking care of it himself - that's not his job. That's management's job, and he obviously trusted Wendy to do her job and she didn't. I don't think that had anything directly to do with the dissolution, although I can certainly see him being angry about it. If the management wasn't Nick's cousin, the management would have been fired. The management obviously wasn't fired - and THAT might have had something to do with the dissolving of the partnership!

I won't comment much on this. But I will say this -- this article does reveal some things I have thought true for a long time.

Perhaps it is managements job, though I'd personally find it hard to trust something as important as this ENTIRELY up to people who I hated, fought with and felt to be utterly incompetent.... I also find it hard to believe for all those months they were trying to get a week in NY Andy knew nothing about his impending expiring visa.
Perhaps the band didn't fire management when this occured because there is more than one side to this story and more to it than this blurb.
Management does need to improve, no doubt. But I also think this is an attempt to stick it to management, gain some cash and drag this drama out just a tad bit longer.... good timing for his book release.

Going for page 2 by 8pm......
I have a few friends in management, and this sort of thing IS THEIR responsibly. Not that this even had the slightest reason for him leaving.
carry on...
