thanks guys for write an opinion , and yeah , is a lot of thing that has to do with this theme , is like sueb1863 said "DD are still seen by the main music-buying public as an 80s nostalgia act, and most of them have little interest in seeing them live " , maybe is my ego hahaaa but i want for my favorite band ,some respect ,some success, because for me they are great , they give their all in their concerts ,and more ... DD music is much better that a lot of music trash in this moment , but well what can i do , finally like vermeerf said , "As long as I get to see them every now and then I don't mind that much how big the venue is" , i am afraid that in some parts of the world we will be victims of the little success of the band , and we only can dream to go to a DD concert ( i hope this change)
ahhhhh danceintothefire ! i didn't notice that ...posting ho hahahaha well i will go now for the number 1000 post ! thanks my friend for be always so kind!

maybe a combination of bad economy and bad timing?.... is that part of the problem with long creative process - in the beginning you operate under something very different than the end?? just a guess -

I'll pretty much agree with what's been said here. Slow economy and lack of general interest. And I'm not going to discount the lack of Andy's involvement either. He had a fairly large number of fans and he was exciting to watch on stage. Dom does the job but for me he lacks the spark Andy has, and as far as I'm concerned as long as it isn't the "Fab Five" I'll save my money.
I think part of the problem is that at the moment DD lacks direction; their collaboration with the Tims came across as more of a desperation move to stay relevent than an honest attempt to explore a new musical direction, and while the current gig with Mark Ronson seems cool I'm afraid a lot of people are going to interpret that move as, "Well, the Tims didn't work - let's see, who else is hot that we can ride the coattails of?" The recent onstage surprise encore with the guy from the Killers seems to underscore that notion, that right now DD is frantically trying to latch on to ANYONE who's popular, to get a little of their stardust. It's as if they've lost confidence in their own musical coolness, which is a shame...

Bad economy, high ticket prices, bad album, losing Andy, plus there are a lot of other acts touring this year.
When I was young some bands could sell out a stadium, nowadays I can't think of very many that can sell out a 15,000 seat arena.

Who's knows the exact reasons, I'm sure it's due to several reasons. I don't believe Andy holds the key, back toward the middle/end of 05 they were struggling to sell out shows then too, when he was in the band... so to say if he was still around things would sell out doesn't jive. The reunion buzz was dwindling long before he left (with the public and with the media) and not enough of the casual fans who attend these shows care 'enough' as to who is playing guitar. It's clear to me the majority of people who are attending these shows are still going mainly for the nostalgic hits. I find it hard to believe these said folks are 'struggling' over DD's supposed lack of direction.
Frantically trying to latch on?? um..Ok. Brandon and company came on the stage for ONE song, they're not touring together and on the same bill. It wasn't even announced or promoted before hand that he was, it was a much welcomed surprise for those who were attending. Knowing both bands are fans of each other, the Killers repeatedly publicly naming DD as huge influences (not mention they are a Las Vegas band and this was in Vegas), it doesn't take much strain to figure out how easy this could come together.

There's a thread over on the Live boards here about how some of us long timers are feeling a bit disinterested at the moment. I also feel the economy and general lack of proper promotions for this album and tour are a lot to blame for those empty seats. Hopefully, this is just one of the many passing phases we've gone through as fans of this band...
