some of these groups just read way into to things. Like they are the saviors of the world.
Dakota is mature and was told of what was going to happen before filming. She gets the real and acting part.
So its child abuse they say? please I'll give you true life stories about child abuse that would put this whole part of a movie to shame.
If directors dont put it out to public then people will do what they always do. Look the other way and act like things like this really dont happen to children. Its always some ones elses child and problem.
This world needs more public awarness of these issues.
Kudos for this group for making a big deal out of this movie. How many more people are going to see the film now because of the publicity?

I have seen alot worse on Law and Order and various other Lifetime movies. But we can't judge it until we see it. I know!! I remember an episode of Law and Order where a mother was about to put her four year old's hand into a bowl of boiling water (not rape, I know) but I was pretty horrified. And this is a little off the subject, but along the same lines, but--there are still cultures in the world who think it's perfectly okay to marry child-brides to middle aged men and then those men can do whatever they want to them........and it's okay, because then it's called marriage. Call it what you want, I can't help but think that a middle aged man and a 13, 14 (sometimes even as young as 12) girl has to be ALOT like rape.......... And yet, these same cultures murder women who ARE raped....... .......and these cultures consider themselves devoutly religious. Go figure.

Has anyone here ever seen Sleepers? I don't recall anyone making a fuss when that movie came out, and it has far more graphic scenes of child rape than what's described in the Dakota Fanning movie.

Friends of mine are rehearsing a play at the moment called "By the Bog of Cats", in which a 7 year old gets her throat slit (It's a black comedy!). I sat in at rehearsals last night to see how it was going. The girl is played by an 11 year old and there's at least one parent with her at every rehearsal she's at. She already knows half the cast from working with them in other shows. In other words she understands what's going on and is comfortable with the adults she shares scenes with and knows if she's not happy with anything or feels uncomfortable, she can go to her parents and the director who will discuss everything with her. I'm sure this kind of situation applies tenfold to Dakota Fanning who seems to have adopted the Larry Olivier maxim that "it's acting, dahling". If she's alright with it, then why is it a problem for others totally unconnected with the film?
I'm sure you'll find that the people bleating loudest about this are the ones who haven't seen it.
