does Simon really suffer from depression?? We don't know. There's just a lot of assumptions going around.

Simon has spoken openly about it before. It was on DD.com when he was discussing the whole period before the reunion and how basically, Yas was instrumental in that all happening by pushing him to do it rather than leave completely! I love that woman!

Thankfully Yasmin helped Simon through that bad time, she is a very good lady, JMO.

She is beautiful, smart and strong. She knows how to deal with Simon and how to help him, too. He is very lucky to have her. I am glad to see the way they still look so happy together.

I love that woman! I think the question though, is whether or not that was actually clinical depression, or just such a bad set of circumstances for him that it crushed him emotionally? And during that particular period of time, there were some pretty crappy circumstances. Did he outright say he suffered from anything clinical?

I don't believe he did, but then I have no idea if he has EVER been treated for anything. Clinical or not, a depression lasting for a period of several months to a couple of years is very serious and I still think he is bipolar. Just my personal opinion based on the things I have seen and a few semesters of psych classes in college. Yeah, I know. I am not in any way qualified to make that judgment, but I am just saying if he were to be diagnosed, I would not be a bit surprised by it.

I mean.........who HASN'T experienced depression? And yeah, I'm including the stuff that lasts for a long time. Loosing your best friend (and several others)......crashing down from huge fame and struggling creatively? It would be weird if he DIDN'T get depressed/down from that. I think in those interviews, he's just describing the rough stuff that everybody goes through. In a way, depression is just a word. It's not a one size-fits-all kinda thing.

I would disagree, depression is just a word; however, depression is a medical condition. I think the whole point of this conversation is that people tend to use the word 'depression' inappropriately. If SLB talked about depression (watch the clip for the making of Nobody Knows) he strikes me as being well read enough to actually mean the medical condition. I don't see why people are so reluctant to take him at his word...
