lol thetangePizza is okay..not so sure about the beer... ;D I'm sure you are nice guys. I just don't like to read comments about Andy and/or Warren anymore... What I mean is... stop the Andy vs Warren thing! They are both good guitarists. Period. And believe it or not, I miss them. Life is indeed too short! I think you're misunderstanding our posts. There's no Andy vs. Warren thing coming from the three of us and we've all agreed that they're both great guitarists. I'd have them both back at the same time if the six egos could all fit in the same room (improbable). We're all good........we mean no harm. Update: I don't drink, so if anyone's offering beer (missed that the first time I read your post), it's probably Musicmaniac. I'm the guy that'll take keys away and get pillows and blankets (and coffee) for folks to crash for the nite. : )

You know Tange that would be an interesting combination. If that was to ever happen, I would definitely give that a chance. That reminds of the time YES (the prog rock band) released the 'Union' album. It featured all past and present members (8 of them) on one album and it turned out great!

Yes played a show locally last year and a friend of mine saw them. I've got some vinyl by them but been a long time since I listened to them. I do like the prog-rock stuff though. Double necked guitars and capes! I'd dig a Warren/Andy combo.....but Warren's comments indicate the improbability. The guys in Duran (and ex's) all got some growing up to do before that'd ever happen. Never say never tho!

I like the playing of BOTH. I think what I've tried to say is that they have different styles of playing but I don't think either one is "wrong" in how they interpret the songs. Since Warren is the one trashing Andy, I had to come to Andy's "defense" and say -- "Waitaminute...both you guys play EACH OTHERS songs with a bit of creative license. That doesn't make either of you bad guitarists!" That's what I'm trying to say. Yeah, I know I throw in the rock rod thing but thats more for laughs...although it did impact my ability to take WaCu seriously and I didn't really care for how that might reflect on the band itself. Ditto for the amateur porn. But on a talent vs. talent issue -- to me, it's a tie.

Ditto for the amateur porn. I don't think the rest of the band cared much for that either. I wonder how they've reacted to his conspiracy rants?

Warren used Jimmy Page as an example, so I will, too.
Page was light years beyond John Lennon as a musician. No way could Lennon cover a Led Zep song.
But there's no way that Page could write a Beatles song, nor would he be a good replacement for Lennon in the Beatles.
Apples and oranges.
Incidentally, if you can find any of Andy's old MySpace blogs, he's somewhat agreeable to the 9/11 truthers. And this is all I'll say personally about it - when a crime occurs, cops always say "follow the money." Where does the money trail lead? Halliburton. Halliburton made billions.

dom is average, not even as good as andy, it's pointless to have him in the band. if they want to make the band the best it could possibly be, they'd get warren back. Well thing is. Dom shows up for the gigs....that makes him a lot better than Andy at this point in the game....regardless of personal preference.

So wc misses no opportunity, again, to trash Duran and unleash his own pure rage at Andy. Didn't he display this slighted side of himself in that awful book entitled Notorious?
Whether Andy needed some help to play OW and CU is only rumour. Someone posted they felt Andy was faking it when playing those songs live. I disagree - in the Nov 2003 show in Toronto, Andy broke a string while playing CU, and I can remember only knowing something happened cause the guitar sound disappeared when he stopped playing to yell over for another guitar - but than he kept playing and added some different chords despite the missing string.
OW never sounded better - esp. when played at the Brit Awards 2004. Andy gave that song a good kick in the ass!
This interview is factually incorrect - wc never left Duran in 2000 - rather he be fired by fax! And boy, wc didn't always do a masterful job when playing all the Duran "Andy" hits when he was in the band - sometimes I think he secretly hated playing them as he seemed to contribute the bare minimum. In some ways he reminded me of Sammy Hagar - they both got the gig but still complained for years!
And him working with JT at the moment is suspect - IMO I think that some of JT's reasons for leaving in 96' was because of wc.
Andy's played on more albums, produced more albums, worked with more people from different genres - wc makes him look out to be an anti-social, anger-fuelled , average guitarist at best.
I'm glad wc is gone - even happier I will never, ever have to hear his "guitar white noise" again.
