totally seconding the "cuties at Duran Duran shows - and this is NOT in the 80s. This was in the Spring of 2001. I was a sophomore in college and my Pakistani neighbor had been nagging me for over a week to come along with him for the Duran Duran show in Atlanta. They were playing 5 nights there. I finally caved in and went (no regrets whatsoever!). What really surprised me was the audience. It was predominantly female and here is the best part - MOST of them were in their 20s to early 30s AND were supremely hot. The "eye-candy factor" was surprising beyond belief. By far, the most attractive audience at any concert I have ever attended. No wonder the band was having so much fun. It was just the icing on the cake for what proved to be an amazing evening (also the first time I realized what an amazing voice Simon LeBon has).

I think the ratio of male to female fans really depends on which board one is looking at. This board has more males than other boards from what I have seen. This board and LK seem to both have a much larger percentage of participating men than one would expect. I'm curious about DDM's board. What is the ratio of men to women there? There are definitely more women than men on DDM.

;D Well, we'd like to THINK we're cuties still anyway! You've nothing to worry about on that score, my dear. And I think the ratio has gotten so much closer to 1:1 because word has gotten out over the years that DD shows are where the chicks are.

I catch plenty of couples at the shows too, and it's not always girlfriends or wives dragging their significant others to the show either. Those men usually seem to enjoy the show plenty from what I've seen!

I'm a dude and I was a fan of DD BEFORE the crazy screaming girl thing happened. I had become to really be annoyed by, if not outright resent, the whole teeniebopper thing because in a lot of ways it did ruin it for male fans and the media began to insinuate DD was a fabricated pretty-boy band (before REAL fakey pre-packaged talentless boy bands were mainstream) and it bothered me but I didn't let it keep me from listening and collecting the music because I saw and heard a band that was really doing something different and loved the sound and lyrics and I knew they were truly talented. All this from my closet of course.
Anyway, just a comment about the girl thing... as for DDM, it's seemingly entirly women (although I do know there are men on the site and there was a "Dude's Only" thread awhile back with men posting crass (but funny) jokes. My membership expires soon though.
