I like the goth renaissance pic. I have no problem with ghetto fashion. It's not for me, but I have no problem with that. Let the kids be creative!!! I DO have a problem with half-naked teenagers. Where are these parents? I don't want my child being treated as a sex object. I don't want my sons to treat girls as sex objects. Not that I have children, of course. Then again, the pictures above are some of the reasons why I don't want them. If I say no to an outfit like that, I'm vilified. If I say yes, I'm setting up my daughter for trouble. God bless you parents out there... It can't be easy! So true, the Goth is creative, but not for me, but those others *mouth drops* WTF?? hhhhmmmm very gutsy to have matching outfits, lol

I actually applaud them for being so damn brave to wear what they are wearing. I mean how many of us (even in our most daring) would have the guts to dress in anything but what convention says we should ? . Every generation tries to shock,so really they're just doing what teens do. For me it was wearing mens boxers and teeshirts to school instead of shorts( I know not that daring). For a friend of mine (male) he wore skirts and Doc Martins at the risk of being laughed at (or beat up by the jocks). Also the Ghetto thing. As someone who was born and spent my early years in one (now live in the burbs) to say it's a cultural thing is just misinformation. It would be just like saying everyone in the burbs dresses in an uptight way.

I applaud their creativity but they can do it without looking trashy. I have to agree that it does look very trashy to be half naked at your high school prom. Some of them were creative, like the basketball jersey ones.. but the others looked like they stepped out of "Stripper Monthly" or something. I can agree that it is creative while still believing it doesn't look decent. ~~EB

I've never understood "creative" when some versions of "creative" are just fugly.
Think: Gwen Stefani...FUGLY clothes!
It's PROM NIGHT! Be creative, but don't be FUGLY!

All that being said. How in the HELL did they get past the teachers and principal ?!!!

They got past because the teachers figured it wasn't worth the fight--which is sad. They probably figured that if they said something the kids would complain about it being "prom" and "let us be us" kind of stuff...
And, I've been homeschooling for about the same length of time as you Mocha... but you are in Cali, and I feel badly for you because of the laws there... Move to florida--it is sweet on us homeschoolers.
