well i liked sterling..he was friendly when i met him. and he was a good drummer. but i dont think he really contributed as much as warren back then. i think they justed to be a 5 member band again. and i think it wasn't a smart move for them to add sterling as a full member.

...some people. "sterling was not a smart move as an official member but warren was". it always comes as a surprise when people are so sure bout what a certain member contibutes to a band. "warren contributed huge but sterling not really". liberty credits. duran duran are taylor/rhodes/lebon/warren/campbell. bad move imo. ridiculous duran duran are 3 taylors a rhodes and a le bon. never forget that. ps i liked sterling far better than wc. and i liked him simply cause he undestood that the liberty line up was a joke. so he left running.way to go sterling. I doubt it was quite like that Giannis! If it was, then I bet he would have been quite sick in 1993!

I doubt it was quite like that Giannis! If it was, then I bet he would have been quite sick in 1993! but you said in your post that he was unhappy with liberty being a flop. i said something similar. You've seem to have taken what I said and repeated it in a rather contrived way then!

You've seem to have taken what I said and repeated it in a rather contrived way then! no i didnt. i said what i said. you see i wanted to post earlier on this thread but then again i said i wont bother but then again somebody said something i didnt like and i posted primarily to express my disagreement about the liberty line up. the ps was something i strongly believe. im not contrived at all i have my own opinions and if i liked your post i whould quote i agree with you. ps i really love you calling me by my real name. giannis/john in english. and my surname starts with a t. so i am a jt ahh! so you're a JT too! by the way, I didn't mean you were contrived! Just that I don't think Sterling left because he though DD was a joke! He never would have joined if he thought that! From what Warren has said, it sounds that Sterling was more or less sacked in the end.

No mention now of Warren. this is a band that has moved on and any interview will only include Paper Gods, 40th or the years 1981 - 1985.

Sterling is a good drummer, I saw him performing with David Bowie and he really was great. But to be honest...I never missed him in DD. For me he was a bit of a let down after Steve Ferrone. As for songwriting, I think Warren was far more competent at that. I've always been happy with the drummers that DD used for their performances from 1993-2001. So I never longed for Sterling to come back. Sterling is a solid drummer, and yes during the 90's DD worked with some brilliant drummers. The Thank You album: # Steve Ferrone # Terry Bozzio # Tony Thompson # Abe Laboriel Jr. Impressive! + our own unique drummer RT. I love Ferrone's drumming and Thompson's 80's work, well he ws THE drum sound of 80's fro me. Where do you rank Joe Travers? He seems professional in this interview..39 minutes in..

Thanx for sharing A
I have a new found appreciation for him
Interesting that he mentions Steve J from Japan and Terry B from Missing Persons
Love that he was a DD fan before becoming a (short stint) member
Great to actually see him say that working with Duran, Bowie & Nile was a great experience/massive learn.

Did not realize the Sterling thing, always found him a great drummer but not on BLT, too many effects and synths for him to show off his talent. With Bowie he was an excellent interpreter of his classic songs.
As for Warren: it is weird that he doesn’t get mentioned anymore. I really found it odd that his name was not even mentioned once in the otherwise excellent There is something you should know BBC documentary. And I’m not a big WC fan.
IMO it shows that the current line up has left ‘that version’ of the band behind completely. And they have made it clear that only Nick was really comfortable with the TV Mania years.

No mention now of Warren. this is a band that has moved on and any interview will only include Paper Gods, 40th or the years 1981 - 1985. According to the timeline, Warren is still mentioned: Warren Cuccurullo becomes a permanent member of Duran Duran, as they release their sixth studio album Liberty and the singles “Violence of Summer (Love’s Taking Over)” and “Serious.” To the disappointment of their fans, the band chooses not to tour. I just find it odd that they don't have Sterling mentioned - naturally I read both pages of this thread, but c'mon, they MADE him a band member and he has writing credits.

Sterling's drumming on Big Live Thing and Electric Theatre is unsurpassed Duraniewise to me. I appreciate that may not be a popular view though...
