MTV are hypocrites=they play Lady Gaga but not this--my question is that article valid and why hasn't DD put out a shorter video for video shows if they still do exist--I know VH-1 plays videos as top 10 countdown and there are late late night videos like from 4 to 6 am--I know i have seen them--lol

supposedly MTV's now an establishment of what's to be aired?
Overall, there's a series of Hypocrisy of MTV such as their acceptance of 'raunchy' videos such as hip-hop/rap artists having half naked dancers on their videos. Has MTV banned any other videos recently? just the Rhiana one but thats mtv-france.
Maybe MTV wants some money to be motivated to play it non-stop like they did u2 in the 2000's. Maybe everything's all about Payola/Bribery?

The ban is in at least 2 of the newspapers in Belgium, so it is promotion! It's a better way to get attention to it than actually playing it at 3am on MTV, attracts much more viewers and now we will get the short-edit as well, it's what we hoped for!

What was so raunchy about the GP video?? I could see them not wanting to run it because it's so long, but raunchy?
Where are these reports coming from? Has MTV or VH1 said anything, or is this all from the DD camp?

IMHO, the entire announcement is laughable because it just seems like a huge publicity stunt engineered by both MTV and the band. I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if the whole Girl Panic “banning” was something planned and mutually agreed upon by both parties. It is great publicity for both sides…a win-win situation. MTV gets to “ban” a video and try to appear as though they are still a relevant voice in the music business (although they haven’t been for many years now). The reference to the Girls On Film banning in the 80’s reminds people of the channel’s hey-day.
For the band, they get to appear as though they are still young and hip enough in their 50's to cause the scandal of having a video banned for being too risqué. Do you honestly think that is why MTV won’t play it; when honestly it is tame compared to other videos today? That is a joke. MTV doesn’t bother to play it because unfortunately as much as we all love this band they have no relevance to the young, Jersey Shore watching MTV audience. Not to mention the long length of the video. For the band as well, the reminder of the Girls On Film banning reference reminds people of the band’s heyday. It is an illusionary ego boost for both sides.
