Thanks Derek, that would mean Alan Curtis was only in one band line-up. That was the late 1979 Duran Duran band, with Jeff Thomas, Alan Curtis, John Taylor, Nick Rhodes, Roger Taylor. yes, i think so. i am trying to get it all straight with the band, so let's see what they say.

Simon confirmed on BBC Music 6 that 16/7/80 was the first gig he played with DD. Said he was shaking with nerves but the inevitable "rock star thing" happened to him post-gig. Trust our Simon - starting as he meant to go on 16/7/09 was the Edinburgh Castle gig in the rain .....

I never realized that Simon and Andy joined so close together. I don't know why I always had the impression Andy had joined a couple of months earlier, not a week. LOL

Awesome work all! It's nice to get to the bottom of all this. Now if we can just get people to quit mislabelling/dating recordings of old shows!

A j-card is the name of that paper card inserted in the plastic storage case of most pre-recorded audio cassette releases. Here is the late 1979 demo j-card Derek spoke about, designed by John Taylor. John and Nick shopped this demo tape around A&R departments in London.
