i had the us longbox. i opened it and threw the box away..... Why did you throw the box away? Would you mind to tell me what was in the box? CD made in? Matrix? Cover printed in? Barcode? Thank you!! Did anyone know 20 odd years ago, longboxes would be collectable? I assumed it would be the Kershenbaum version, which hadnt been released in UK. Rio CD W German pressing CD, Sonopress B-6073/CDP7460032 Capitol label on sleeve, printed in US, no barcode Weird.....

I have this one: 2. The one which was made in West Germany by Sonopress for the UK market (EMI) in late 1984, probably 1985. Matrix: SONOPRESS B-6073/CDP7460032A

*gasp* I Shudder. I remember seeing the longbox, but I had the vinyl and only got a CD player a few years later. When I heard they would stop making the longboxes, I ran to Music+Plus and bought all I could, but Rio and Notorius are ones I missed out on! I regret not buying them sooner. And as it is, some of the earlier albums were already reissued in budget versions or whatever you want to call them with boxes featuring small artwork in a background with the company logo on it, rather than full artwork. I would rectify that if I had a time machine! Anyway, I have the first one you mentioned without the clear center from Germany. I didn't even get a CD player until the Wedding Album forced my hand (first Duran album not released on US vinyl), so that's the only Duran longbox I have. I would really like Notorious as it was able to fully take advantage of the horizontal potential for the artwork! Edit: pic not working: www.duranduranstore.com/ekmps/shops/duranduranstore/images/9756-duran-duran-added-09-01-notorious-usa-cd-album-with-original-long-box-10468-p.jpg-10468-p.jpg"] Edit: pic not working: [a href="http://www.duranduranstore.com/ekmps/shops/duranduranstore/images/9756-duran-duran-added-09-01-notorious-usa-cd-album-with-original-long-box-[2]-10468-p.jpg"]http://www.duranduranstore.com/ekmps/shops/duranduranstore/images/9756-duran-duran-added-09-01-notorious-usa-cd-album-with-original-long-box-[2]-10468-p.jpg[/a] Considering that every image I could find online for the Rio longbox is in fact the generic grey Capitol version, I have my doubts that any full-box artwork one existed (although it would probably look awesome if it did). Anyone have any memory of such a version, or for something similar for the debut or 7ATRT? I feel like longboxes didn't get going until '85 or '86 at the earliest, and that the initial CDs of '83-'84 were just in plastic packs. Anyone able to refute this?
Duran Duran, Rio, Seven and the Ragged Tiger and Arena were all released in grey Capitol logboxes with small album artwork in the US. I The Power Station CD came the same way but Arcadia's came in full artwork longbox.

I The Power Station CD came the same way but Arcadia's came in full artwork longbox. Thought that was the case. Thanks! I did forget about the Arcadia one! So there were some full artwork longboxes in '85, at least from Capitol. Shame though...would have been cool to see what could have been done with the great Rio and 7ATRT artwork in the longbox shape!

I could have sworn that Arena and maybe Power Station had full artwork @ some point. I remember seeing some of the albums and not buying them and then when I went to get them, I noticed some of the boxes changed. I do not remember which.
