I am a student at Webster University in St. Louis where I am involved with the radio station (internet station). I have an 80s show on Thursday 12noon-2-pm (CST) called "All 80s Rewind." For my show this week, I would like to make my playlist up of the following: 1) the first 80s single/45 people bought or 2) the first 80s song that really rocked their world. I thought it would be fun to ask the board members here! Feel free to let me know your answer! The first 45 I ever bought was "9 to 5" by Dolly Parton. lol Thank you in advance!
*Shameless plug* If you are interested in tuning in, you can listen at thegalaxyradio.com. All 80s Rewind can also be found on Facebook, Twitter and email @yahoo.com. I always take requests!

Hey April,
I think that is a great idea.
1) my first 7" (I guess) was during the 'NDW' (Neue Deutsche Welle) period by 1982 here in Germany. It must have been something by the band 'Trio', but I don't know the title anymore. My first LP was Duran's ARENA. 2) I got seriously into music by 1984, and there are way too much songs that rocked my teenage world. Three of them (non Duran related) came to my mind immediately: 1984 - Billy Idol - Eyes Without A Face (always loved this one) 1985 - Depeche Mode - Shake The Disease (I rememeber when I heard this one on the radio in 1985 and I still think it is the best song they have made) 1986 - Cyndi Lauper - True Colors (not a Cyndi Lauper fan, but I am totally in love with this song)
Best,
Ansgar

My first 45 - Was "Hungry Like The Wolf", bought the same day as my brother bought "Rio".
The band stuck with me, not so much with him.

Hey, ansgar! I found that song by Trio and I remember it (the English version, of course). Can't wait to play that obscure one! Thank you! Cool yeah, there were a few german songs in the early 80s, which had an additional english version! Can we follow your show on the internet? Is there a streaming link? I think 12.00 CST is 19.00 MET, right? Good luck and have fun with it!

Yes, it is streaming. Just go to thegalaxyradio.com and you can listen from there. I think Germany is 7 hours ahead of us so that would be 7pm your time. Yes, I'm going to have fun and hopefully everyone listening will also!
