Awesome! Huge thanks Ansgar! To me it absolutely sounds real. The fact that it doesn't match the final song in composition makes it more likely to be real as opposed to less. It sounds like a definite work in progress but well on its way to getting to the final arrangement, with Andy not having yet fully worked in the G7 & F7 arpegios in the verse (which add some tension to G major) and it having only a happy sounding C major/G major/F major chorus with no pre-chorus, as opposed to the final version which adds the (IMO awesome sounding) C minor pre-chorus that adds some more great tension and uncertainty before going into the still happy but now re-ordered G major/F major/C major chorus. Also, the melodic guitar solo over a verse is, while cool, less developed than Nick's final (and again, IMO, awesome) synths solo over a unique G major/C major/F major/C major & G major/C major/F major/G major backing bit on the final version of the song. Drum machine intro or not (yeah, John says they never played to drum machines while making 7ATRT, but then again, he also said there was never a 12" Mix done for AVTAK, so, whoops!), that sure as hell sounds like Roger's drums starting at 4 seconds, Nick's synths, Andy's guitar style (especially making sure to be the last one heard after the song's conclusion - reminds me of the Reflex rehearsal on Sing Blue Silver: "has somebody been...themselves up a little bit?"), and absolutely JT's bass, especially the added pops at the end. My ears tell me with 99.5% certainty that it's real, and it is most certainly awesome. We need more real 7ATRT demos to surface!

I have this demo that Ansgar posted. Here's another demo and it's titled "I Take The Dice (take 2)". This one is definitely authentic - there is talking right before the song (one of the voices is unmistakeably Nick) and then right at the end of the song. It's rough, but rough in a way that you know it's not part of that FAKE set of 7&RT demos: www.sendspace.com/file/egtrj0

This is what I found about it: "probably a left-over song that didn't get any further or a bit of it was used for something else. The chord progression does not fit in with anything off the SATRT album. The drum pattern is the same as Hold Me from 1986, and the bass line is similar, therefore, this is probably an early version of Hold Me. Sounds like Steve Ferrone on drums/same pattern."

Yep, was gonna say "wait a sec, this does sound like Duran, but not at all like I Take the Dice." Definitely sounds like it could be either Notorious or Big Thing sessions (does sound a bit like an early Hold Me, but also sounds like it could fit on The Medicine right next to Bomb). Absolutely agreed about Nick's Brummie drawl being proof of authenticity (reminds me of Andy's hilarious imitation of him in the awesome documentary included on the Live in London DVD ("couldn't understand a f-ing word...and he couldn't understand a word I was saying either" or something to that effect)! Many thanks for the upload, redmumba!
