If Duran Duran doesn't want to be tangled up in political controversy, they shouldn't entertain in private for tyrants and their partners. How prostitute can one become? Sorry, but I think they shouldn't have taken this job. Agree completely

Rather more i meant, whats the almighty crease on his face! When did he get old? Explains the beard LOL And oh btw my only 'political' comment abt DD is that it I don't think that it was them per say that set up the sky high prices of the book or the Austin show. That would be their old photographer and the ACL Live venue.

What DD decide to do is ultimately up to them. If "we" don't like it, it's up to us to protest against it. If you feel that strongly that they've screwed up, don't buy the next album, or don't go to a concert; that's up to people as individuals. Really, I don't think they'll even notice unless a large GROUP of fans say something.

But NO, I'll still buy the music and go to their shows if it suits me.

If YOU feel strongly enough about an issue and feel that you want to make a statement TO the band about it, THAT is up to YOU to work out how you're going to do it. Of course you're entitled to your opinion, we all are.

Do they believe in shame? Me? , yes, and I´m totally ashamed of my last 30 years of loyalty for the band, die-hard record collecting and support All of them are multimillionaires, Do they really need the money? What planet do they live on? Don´t read newspapers? Don´t watch tv? How do they dare to release “ Making Patterns Rhyme” to support Amnesty International?? after this kind of private gigs in places like the actual Russia? Do they were so disrespectful to play "Ordinary World" ?? In one of the latest kathy´s kafe ,Mr Lebon said that the title of the new album had 5 syllables, I think I know the album title: "OUR HIPOCRESY" By the way, What think the homophobic Vladimir Putin about men in their 50´s wearing make-up and eyeliner??

It may not be so cut and dried.
Event Management for these corporate parties would be in place months prior to the gig.
I've organised minor corporate events and the minimum booking is at least two to four months lead time for local acts that cost hundreds not hundreds of thousands of dollars to book.
Furthermore contractually regardless of personal or band political beliefs they may have had to do the party and could not use the political climate as reason to cancel. I know if I was booking a big ticket name like Duran Duran I would ensure the contract ensuring they perform was ironclad in my favour even if it costs me extra.
Could they afford the business repercussions of cancelling or breaking the contract?
As for "prostituting themselves" for money maybe consider the following:- hmmm new album to promote new album requiring financing to release a paid short set to ease back into performing to finance said album and any tour eventuating from album release.
Do they have a record label?
The possibilities are endless.
